A couple eagle pics from LoessBluffsNWR this morning.
Picked a fish that had at least part of January in its name - Lutjanus - for my first #SundayFishSketch of 2026.
Working on more scribble/less worry.

And I missed an “h” in Herichthys 🤷🏼♂️
Here’s my guess at this week’s #SundayFishSketch prompt.

Already a day behind, redear sunfish for Day 2 of #25DaysOfFishmas
This week’s #sundayfishsketch prompt was spooky fish or fish w/spooky names. I started down a toadfish rabbit hole b/c they always look menacing. Discovered a new group to me. The plunderfish with their odd little chin barbels. Denizens of the cold waters of the southern oceans around Antarctica.
Happy Opah-versary #sundayfishsketch! The fish that started it all and headed into year 10.
Democrats - don’t give an inch. Make him eat it. He didn’t care before. He doesn’t now, and he won’t after.

Forgot to cross post, so it’s a dah behind. Better late than never
Although colorful enough to be a REEF fish, I painted it for the RIFT prompt of #sciartseptember and this week’s #sundayfishsketch. Haplochromis obliquidens, a cichlid from Lake Victoria and the rift system of East Africa
Water color illustration of a Plains Minnow, a small silvery fish with golden highlights.
Haven’t kept up with #sciartseptember very well. Here’s a plains minnow for the #vanishing prompt from earlier in the week. Once, one of the most common minnows in the sandy drainages of the Kansas and Arkansas rivers, flow regime changes greatly reduced their numbers #sundayfishsketch
#sciartseptember prompt today - islet. Painted Anolis consperus, endemic to Grand Cayman, a small island in the Caribbean.
Thanks!
Big fan of art on found objects. Welcome Miguel!
A pallid sturgeon for this week’s #sundayfishsketch. Found in the Missouri and Mississippi rivers, pallid sturgeons show a preference for swift current and turbid waters. Listed as an endangered species both federally and in Kansas.
Watercolor painting of a male red shiner, Cyprinella lutrensis, on a blue circle
A common stream fish in eastern Kansas. Attractive in aquariums and good bait. #sundayfishsketch
Happy shark awareness day.

Credit to a post by @drkatfish.bsky.social for my inspiration and a “state fish” themed #sundayfishsketch
A big beautiful billfish to cut through the noise. #SundayFishSketch
Barely a sketch, but a 15 minute quick paint for my guess of Red Shiner for this week’s #SundayFishSketch X #25DaysOfFishmas crossover
Rainbow Trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) is my guess for this week’s #25DaysOfFishmas X #SundayFishSketch crossover event.
December 1 means the kick off of the annual crossover pairingnof #25daysoffishmas and #SundayFishSketch. Here’s my guess on the clues given - Pirate Perch
