To be an AI generated image it had to exist before, it's a lot more complicated than that but the fact is that it requires an immense database of images and 99.9% of said images used to train models are being used unethically, and it's very energy intensive

I know people who only had an AI or AI enhanced art as a reference of their sona, most of cases they can't afford a ref and having a private AI art was the way to bring the idea into reality before been able to pay someone to draw them. I'd say it's the "Neutral Good" of AI use xD
