Okay so my last post said I was releasing my game in 2025 and it is now 2026, but this time I am releasing in 2026 for sure! Let's see if I can get it out before the 7 year mark of development ๐

I just realized why I spontaneously started designing a custom magic the gathering set yesterday out of the blue...
I uninstalled MTG Arena a few days ago so I could be more productive. ๐คช
So real ๐ญ
Set a release date, then subdivide that time into blocks with a playtest after each one. The game doesn't have to be finished for testers to grok the trajectory and provide useful feedback from observing them play. This provides waypoints to narrow your focus on what's important. ๐คทโโ๏ธ
I mostly learned in Unreal Engine first, their visualizer and debugging for materials is very intuitive.
Lots of game development just comes down to math. :)
๐5 year project with lots of ideas. I also use it for art/UI mood boards, playtest notes, etc.
If you use the chrome Trello Card Numbers extension you can see the # of each card, I'm currently on my 1405 card created.
Pixel art study of Ivan Shiskin's "Windmill in the field" for card art for my game.

Ivan Shiskin is one of my favorite painters! Well done!
Give yourself regular deadlines to give the game to play testers. This will keep you focused on what is impactful content for actual players and you will deliver meaningful progress each patch.
Used to use Trello until that got too many tasks on it (1000+ cards)
Switched to notepad for sprints. But now those files are too long.
Now I go mostly on vibe lol. Big reports still get added to lists though for fixing later.
Hahaha, oh no! But I just got started! ๐ You are forgiven though.
Thanks!! ๐
Resource management and deckbuilding are two of my favorite mechanics and I'm trying to merge them!
I could make cool shaders forever. Almost 3500 lines of shader code and still lots to do.๐
Sure! Gameplay loop is structured similar to other roguelikes, with rooms or battles being replaced with islands. You hop to new islands by refueling your landing ship. When not doing that, you need to keep your crew fed by producing food. You can collect research and gold to improve your deck.
Talent is mostly just the intersection of work hard and time spent. Do both and you'll be talented before you know it!
@bunkstunkis.bsky.social you think you can just retweet, like, and not comment with your favorite gamedev to follow? I demand it!
@noio.games consider yourself found!
