Things are not going to get better as long as oligarchs rule the roost in our democracies | George Monbiot
If we want the kind of fair, functioning state Britain saw post-1945, we need to take on the economic powers that wrecked it, says Guardian columnist George Monbiot
From 1941 to 1952 in the UK, the top rate of income tax was 98%. A luxury goods purchase tax introduced in 1940 later rose to 100%.
Result? The share of incomes captured by the richest 0.1% fell from 7% in 1937 to just over 1% in 1975. That's what we need today. www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

British Journalist UNCOVERS SHOCKING Iran War COVER-UP
YouTube video by Double Down News
youtu.be/4BlXzB8E8h4?.... Explains medias role in this illegal war with disinformation. British media (Daily Telegraph) refused to cover the murder of the Iranian School girls. Points out if Iran killed 175 Jewish Schoolgirls it would be front page news

Yep.
I'm certainly not a woman, yet I have had a close association with Unionism and the Labor Party and I can see clearly that Albanese has hijacked the Party for populist, unambitious and uncompromising ideals.
Albanese is exceptionally conservative.

No Labor MP was prepared to speak in support of this bill and the government provided cover by rushing it through with no notice and no usual speaking list, preventing crossbenchers from speaking on the second reading debate about the serious flaws in the legislation.

Is Australia at war? Legally, the answer is yes
It's a reasonable question for Australians to ask given the government is sending a sophisticated reconnaissance plane β crewed by dozens of military personnel β to the Middle East. And legal experts ...
Legally speaking, Australia is at war. Dividing between "attack" & "defence" has little legal force. Now a party to the conflict irrespective of "offensive" & "defensive" conduct. The use of "collective self-defence" term references UN Charter Article 51. #auspol www.abc.net.au/news/2026-03...

It's a multicultural Country at war with itself as politicians of the centre right and right persuasion (Labor and Liberal, National and PHON), play the white Australia card.
Hypocrisy on steroids to my mind.

Moral double vision as Australia heads to the Gulf - Michael West
Australia claimed impotence over Gaza but is now sending military support to the US-Israel war in the Gulf. Hypocrisy, writes Andrew Brown
So now we send military to the Gulf. Why was Australia so 'cautious' over Gaza, now action heroes for US-Israel war against Iran? Andrew Brown on the double standard

You can trust "Timid Anthony" not to rock the boat and to come in at the most conservative end of options available.
Our Parliament should be at least three times the size than it is today, for democracy to even have half a chance of success we need a representative per 40,000 people.

From around 60,000 voters per seat in 1974 to around 120,000 in 2025. A modest expansion would only go back to 2019 levels.
Over their voting life, a 70-year-old would have seen representation halve: from sharing an MP with 62,000 other voters in 1974 to 121,000 voters in 2025.
Albanese Govt is contemplating an increase, which is good -- but on the smaller end would only get us back to 2019 levels.
