Everyone go look at Aster's new birthmarks and say thank you to @roira.bsky.social for making it happen.

Honorable mentions go to Sam & Max (like..pick a game) and Megaman X.

Megaman X was one of the earliest Megaman games I remember playing. It's comfort food.

Sam & Max - love the humor and its one of the games that really spoke to me when I was younger.

This is the game I met my husband in. This is the game I find myself going "okay what content have they put out that I haven't touched yet". Don't get me wrong, it has problems. It has lifestyle updates I wish it would make. But at the end of the day, I can always find something to do in 14.

FF14 - Obviously. This is THE GAME for me at the moment. I'll admit I didn't really get into the story until Shadowbringers because I skipped everything my first time through in order to roleplay with my group at the time. I enjoyed it more on my second playthrough.

It just does so much right that I love when it comes to MMOs that I find myself bringing up when I have complaints about other games. An account-wide glamour dresser and dye system. A gameplay system that rewards you for exploring instead of just doing mission after mission. Loved playing it.

Guild Wars 2 - The MMORPG that got me to build my own PC just to play it. No joking by the way, I build a "junkyard scrapbox" PC with parts thrown out from my first job just so I could play this with my coworkers. It is the longest running MMO that I played, even if I stopped after End of Dragons.

There is something about being a private detective who shows up on the first level because he accidentally launched himself out of his apartment window. The writing is great and I would gladly play this game over and over again.

Gunpoint - This was the game that really showed me what Indie games could be. I originally bought it (like so many of my steam games) for the TF2 hat. After I played it though? There is a reason why I had a "hammerhead snark" emote. Love this game to bits.

Team Fortress 2 - The first competitive game I ever played. I liked it enough on quickplay but my 2 years of playing 9v9 highlander as my team's spy? I loved every minute of it. Especially when I got good enough to play the other team like a fiddle. Probably my favorite competitive game.

Between the 4 different armies you could play as, the different maps, the campaign, the unlockable upgraded weapons? I loved it. There is some sick pleasure my brother and I got out of trying to 2-man defend Hoth as the Rebels on the hardest difficulty. And don't forget the hero-fighter mode.

Star Wars Battlefront - Okay this one is a bit of a lie, they didn't have Battlefront 2 on the site (the older version not the new EA one) but I'll make due. Battlefront was the first game a friend of mine really got me that was a shooter. I played this before I played any CODs or Battlefields.

I started with Treeko but I've played the game so many times that I could beat it practically blindfolded. Diamond and Pearl were up there too but I fell off the series after that because I didn't have the money to keep playing.

Emerald will always be my go-to game.

Pokemon Emerald - This one really sparked a joy that I hadn't experienced before. I had liked Pokémon enough growing up, but I grew up with Yellow and a busted copy of Blue that didn't save properly. Emerald was the first Pokemon game that I was old enough to sink my teeth into properly.

I still play Age of Empires 2 when the feeling hits me, or even the third one. It's comfort food that I can lose hours in. Same with Civ but Civ just doesn't hit the same way.

Age of Empires 2 - Age of Empires was a game that my dad taught me how to play the second I showed an interest in strategy games. I played the first one with him when we were camping and when the second one came out, we both launched ourselves into it. I had the portable version when that was out.

With Spyro, it was hours of fun in a single player game where I really started to fall in love with videogames as a medium for story telling.

With Crash, my brother and my dad played with me and we had years of bonding over it. My dad yelling "TROPHY'S MINE" in a funny voice lives in my brain now.

Spyro and Crash Team Racing - This was one of the earliest sets of games I remember playing. My Uncle went blind from diabetes incredibly early in my life and when he moved to the area I grew up in, he gave my brother and I his Playstation and all of his games.

Right, I'll add my memories to the comments in the order I played them when I was a kid! This is noticeably not the order that I have them listed in.

Yep, you can spearfish collectibles from it

A mutual was saying the same thing earlier, they fixed it by closing and reopening the game.

I get that.

For a VERY long time, it was one of the biggest creative struggles I had until I just stopped posting. I wish I had an easy answer for you, but I don't....but if you want to talk about it, I'm around!

I can tell you that people care, even if they are bad at showing it.

With Dorian, I wrote him to be misunderstood. He used to put on a smile and a devil-may-care attitude to mask the tragedy that his life was at the time. I was more upset when people didn't dig past the surface because I put so much more work into the stuff beneath the surface.

As someone who has written 2 very different characters in roleplay, I see both sides of it.

Cyrus is and was very hard to misunderstand so I do worry when he is misunderstood. He's the type of person to tell you exactly how it is and misunderstandings with him are typically "I meant what I said"
