New youtube video demoing my disco tools plugin for making disco (elysium)-like games in #Godot www.youtube.com/watch?v=ylSS...

ACELE - Ah! No. This is a *contact microphone*, it's for recording *inside* solid objects. Contact Mike just beats people up.
Ugh yeah, work with ppl like this all the time. At some point you have to let go of wanting every player to experience everything the way you want, and just make something that speaks for itself. Some people may not get it, but for those who do, it makes all the difference.
What long work this has been,
Yet bad news I'm to belay.
There it is, once again;
502 bad gateway
Linux is also a lot lighter on resources than windows so that also might also afford a bit of headroom in the performance dept, though depending on how reliant you are on certain software that might or might not be an option, assuming dual booting is out of the picture.
A lot of those sound like mostly operating system issues, rather than hardware, which is good!
I'd recommend trying to boot something like fedora KDE off a USB drive and seeing if it fixes any of the problems. If it does, then a windows reinstall or new os would likely fix the same things.
Sysadmin hole sysadmin hole
Just tried to update a service on my homelab and came out a day later with fewer working deployments than before. Server sysadmin is, in fact, difficult.
Who'da thunk?
AYE AYE
God i've been meaning to play this one
Yesssss gooooood
Yep they could've just left it as "block ai" but nahhhh.
Luckily Firefox forks tend to filter out the upstream garbage, so I haven't had to deal with any ai Garbo yet.

Will this be the biggest Godot game release to date?
Tool scripts are a complete godsend, I use the living shit out of them to automatically compute derivative fields in the disco tools resource structure.
Wow the onion is getting really surreal these days. They even changed their pfp and everything.
Thanks for using your position to speak out :)
Disco Tools 0.3.0 is out featuring save/load and some much needed quality of life & docs updates! codeberg.org/Fireye/disco...
Wanting to make changes to their system then getting frustrated at the difficulty/learning curve leads me to just recommend fedora.
Mint is also incredible, albeit for people who need less up to date software in exchange for a more stable experience (not gamers).
Unless you're really curious about how operating systems work.
Bazzite is interesting, and in theory should break less than fedora due to the immutability, but in practice the community support behind fedora proper combined with the average person not understanding immutability and perhaps...
Arch is nice from a gaming perspective as you always get the latest software fastest. Unfortunately, it doesn't always work, and rollback is a bit of a pain. Luckily Nix fixes that while keeping the benefits, at the cost of mr. Bones' wild ride for a learning curve. I dont recommend either...
Personal experience disclosure, I'm on nixos, I use blender and Godot daily & have run OW in the past. No experience with the other 2 apps but from a quick search, uzdoom has an appimage (linux native exe), and steam vr should run pretty well everywhere though know valve is optimizing for arch.
Fedora is probably the way to go if you don't like to tinker. If you want a windows like experience try Fedora KDE, otherwise Fedora Workstation.
Cachy is arch based so it might get a bit dicey here and there, but does have its perks if youre willing to put up with a little instability.
@helldrivers-game.bsky.social at long last you can go back to your ficticious lover!
That is, if you could stop making sha-- playtesting helldrivers.
Fuck OS level age verification. These legislators have no idea what an operating system is, nor do they care to learn.
If you live in california or colorado, please bitch about this to your representatives.
God the fucking RAM prices are too real

Disco Tools 0.3.0 for #Godot is underway! Focusing on a couple quality of life additions and some big fixes, as well as an example script & demo video for the plugin docs.
If I have time, I'll see about tackling Save/ Load and C# bindings for this release.

The character dynamic of importing a car specifically to fistbump your friend midair goes so hard.
