Same in the U.S. 🫠
You can't understand deportations without understanding immigration courts. And right now, those courts are in crisis with new rule changes that could make things significantly worse. 🧵
Get these people out of power.
BREAKING
CENTCOM says it has confirmed that four of the six crew members aboard a U.S. refueling aircraft that went down in Iraq are dead.
This brings the total number of U.S. service members killed to 11.
Rescue efforts are continuing.
CENTCOM says crash was not due to friendly or hostile fire.
Every day, Pedro Sánchez’s saying “No a la Guerra” and no to Trump in general looks better and better.
Someday, kids will learn history and be dismayed that no Republicans in Congress stood up to Trump, and that the U.S. self-destructed for a delusional and vengeful narcissist.
I lost my job, my kids have measles, and gas is six dollars a gallon. But at least now they’re not tearing down a statue of a Confederate general that I’ve never heard of in a city that I’ve never been to.
This war is a strategic disaster for 🇺🇸 & will likely worsen any way you slice it.
Americans should consider protesting this in greater numbers than they did Iraq at this point. They’ll be economically punished faster for a war that was planned with a fraction of the thought.
This is a very good read.
As a thought experiment, imagine if the U.S. regime was run by racist, misogynistic war-hungry people who care nothing for human life and only about wealth and vengeance. … think about what a terror that would be.
Jesus. Fucking. Christ. This kid wants to get out of detention in time for his school spelling bee. What the fuck are we doing.
“Planning around preventing this exact scenario — impossible as it has long seemed — has been a bedrock principle of US national security policy for decades,” a former US official who served in Republican and Democratic administrations said. “I’m dumbfounded.”
Donald Trump is surprised at how poorly the Iran War is going — but the news media is covering all of this uncertainty and sham-handedness as if it’s all part and parcel of a normal conflict. Every article needs to start leading with: Trump is lost at sea.

Trump chose to tear apart democratic institutions and follow his monarchical and familial conceptions of power into a viper’s nest. “When the history books are written, perhaps they will tell the story: it was the first recession caused by the crisis of democracy in America.” - Federico Fubini.
The State Dept is weakened and experts marginalized. And the cost of Trump jettisoning and ignoring actual experts is exorbitant to the global economy and individual families. Advisers could have told Trump a weaker military nation can respond asymmetrically - as Ukraine has - with low-cost drones.
The catastrophe in Hormuz is because the institutions of a democratic country - the U.S. - have failed. Congress does nothing. Negotiations with Iran are left to a real estate developer (Witkoff) & Trump’s son-in-law (Kushner) who ignore intelligence analysis. www.corriere.it/opinioni/26_...
Interesting.
I know, I live in 🇪🇸.
I would buy popcorn and champagne to watch Trump’s reaction to the World Cup being moved to Spain of all places, home to one of the only leaders who stands up to him.
Also, I am aware Infantino is as sycophantic as the guys wearing the wrong sized shoes, but a girl can dream.
A denial from this administration means virtually nothing to me, and should mean the same to any logical human.
It certainly seems that way.
WIRED named the DOGE operative accused here of planning to take Social Security data to his new job. It's John Solly, and he works for the government contractor Leidos, a company that has millions in contracts with SSA.

Infamous.
In the FT??! That’s a solid source.
I can't even find the words to express how repugnant and despicable this post is.
People who spew such Islamophobic bile don't belong in the United States Congress. The job of elected officials is to combat hate, not fan its flames. (1/2)
A Flower Traveled In My Blood. By Haley Cohen Gilliland
A Flower Traveled In My Blood. A phenomenal book.
Que se mueve el Mundial.
I was not inconvenienced at all, and was super fortunate my Qatar transit was en route to Tokyo and before things shut down. And I faced zero danger, unlike many people traveling or living in attacked countries. But thought it was interesting that it happened to highlight the exact flight I took.
Stunning shots!
Charles Exum, the Border Patrol agent who shot Marimar Martinez five times, texted a group chat with fellow agents a few days after the shooting. “I fired 5 rounds and she had 7 holes. Put that in your book boys,” he wrote. newyorkermag.visitlink.me/fkS3Cl
This article on travel chaos highlights the exact flight I took from Tokyo to Helsinki en route back from Tokyo Marathon - it’s 3 hours longer than before Russia war on Ukraine. We flew over the North Pole. I was lucky as I flew to Tokyo via Doha, now largely closed.

The president of the primary host starting a war against a participant country while recklessly threatening other countries left and right, pretty freaking chaotic!
