Ambient RNA & barcode swapping is a serious issue in single-cell genomics. Tools such as CellBender, scAR, DecontX & SoupX. We have developed CellSweep which is faster (in some cases by a lot) and much more accurate. Extensively tested and benchmarked. www.biorxiv.org/content/10.6... 1/
Inhibitory neurons are among the most transcriptomically diverse class of neurons in the CNS, with some brain regions having 60+ distinct cell types. Do humans share the same repertoire as rodents? Birds? Fish? 1/13
There's something deeply obscene and broken about the fact that Donald Trump and Pete Hegseth are bombing elementary schools in an illegal war of aggression, and there's still a sense among the opposition that it has to be explained in terms of gas prices in order to get American voters to care.

this has seemed to work for me as well (to satisfy NIH open access requirement)
Are you a computational postdoc or even in the last year of your PhD and you want to set up your own lab? Want to work in one of the most multi-disciplinary and multi-national institutions in the world? Want to be a leader in understanding biology - molecules up? Apply below!
Though that strategy is not compliant with NIH Public Access Policy, which requires the author-accepted manuscript to be in PMC, right?
PSA: I just followed the WashU strategy and submitted my AAM to NIHMS upon acceptance to be released upon publication without embargo. I then selected the Government Use License (no open access fee) with the publisher. That seemed to work.
Chuffed to see our paper with @geneyeo.bsky.social finally published in @nature.com.

🧵Good news out of #NIH today.
(1) NIH is extending #ESI and #K99/R00 eligibility to accommodate researchers whose eligibility would have ended during the previous shutdown. Take a look at NOT-OD-26-020. If your ESI status would have ended in 2025, you get an automatic extension through 2026/03/31.
Aspergillus fumigatus - 29.9 crossovers per homologous chromosome pair! That makes about 1500 recombination map units per chromosome....
Very sad news. Gail Martin (1944-2026) was a figure in developmental biology. She pioneered the field of ES cells.
