…but it hung with command strips at the show I painted it for, and it’s so light, I thought it’d be fine. 😓 I suspect they kept adding more Velcro each time it fell, until it stopped falling? But the damage was done. I did sign a loan agreement with the university so we’ll see what they say.

Thank you for the kind offer! I did reach out to them with photos of the damage—it looks like they Velcro-d it to a display wall and it fell multiple times, three corners of the front are chipped badly and two corners of the cradle board are rounded/dented from impact. I should have wired the back…

Nothing like getting your artwork back from a show and it’s damaged. Think this is my last year @ TAPS. 😔

All of this makes for a quiet Danielle on socials. I’m here, just not as much right now.

Simultaneously I’m trying to wrap my brain around my recent AuDHD diagnosis, which of course reframes everything in my past and present, and it’s been illuminating, relieving, and somewhat grieving, all at once. (Because that’s super convenient.)

So there’s that.

Lately there’s been little art and much gem show prep (@rckhnd.com). Contemplating cutting back on volunteer duties; am basically working two full time jobs. Also I sell stuff on eBay to keep the bills paid. (Hubs lost his job in January.)

I can honestly say, I’ve never hustled so hard in my life.

I’m happy whenever I see someone reading a lesser-known gem of the golden age 😅

Alfred Bester is great reading in general—I also recommend The Demolished Man.

Everyone can draw, and folks will almost certainly respond more positively to your stick figures than some generic "A.i." slop.

Fellow A(u)DHD folks: is there a to-do list app you use for more than five minutes before discarding? One that’s somehow motivating, intriguing or fun? I need the reminders, but so far I’ve ignored two apps.

He hasn't published a book since 2013 and now thinks he can just magnanimously drop a literary turd to reclaim our goodwill. Do not support him or buy his book

As far as I can tell this applies to ANY mail you mail. Things are no longer postmarked the day you mail them, but after they’ve been transported to a regional hub. For me, despite mailing eBay orders by next business day, USPS “receives” them when they get to PDX 1-2 days later. 🙄

But it was a great experience, quite something to spend a focused week on just our business (without day jobs or anything else to worry about.) We also had time to enjoy Tucson’s food scene and saguaro forests! 😍

I was terrible at keeping up with posting during our Tucson trip, but I’ll post some highlights now that we’re home. Tired (home bed is best bed), broke (relatively speaking, but we were buying for our entire 2026 show season), and burned out on gem shows (again, relatively speaking lol.) 😝
