Rags like the Daily Mail are full of articles assuaging the egos of older generations by telling them that they had it better, that they were brought up properly, that only they know the value of X. You don't need to be like them.

A reminder that the past is a fun diversion at best, and not a solution to anything. Swapping out your phone for iPods and digicams is a vintage hobby, not the basis of a realistic political worldview.

a billboard at Oxford Circus station displaying a model in a blue dress, the image is a standard portrait (as in of a person) photo, rotated 90 degrees counterclockwise to fit the landscape orientation of the billboard, a white text overlay reads "self-portrait"
good effort but that is landscape, not portrait
An image of a 90's CRT monitor being thrown out of an office window
Yeaaaaah, I noticed that too. I understand the artistic choice, but...
I love how a big part of the MacBook Neo product pitch is "this isn't an adware-infested Windows computer"
The 8GB RAM is a bummer, but not unexpected given the insane DRAM prices. Maybe Apple can try to make macOS 27 more RAM efficient??
Seeing a .phtml or an .aspx URL extension is like the digital equivalent of old book smell
At one point I tried to touch my 24" desktop monitor. Embarrassing.
Oh no I've started using my iPad Pro for work more and the muscle memory to touch big screens is kicking in
Also my brain is starting to get cmd and ctrl confused again

More from the holiday archives, enjoy these two fuzzy stickers for Siph!
To be fair, there are 535 members of Congress, and the bill has no cosponsors at time of post. There's no indication as of yet that it's going to be seriously considered. Only 5ยฑ2% of bills are ever enacted as legislation in most sessions.
That's good to hear. I did wonder if it had any real backing ^^
Minimalist vector emotes of a robotic mask consisting of a black visor with monochromatic cyan graphics, a gray base around the head, yellow horns and rusks, and a bright red jaw and long pointed ears. On top of the mask is a floating fireball. The character is in multiple expressions - gleefully holding a knife, sad, thinking, pleading, starry eyed, happy holding a coffee, blushing with a broken visor. There's one more character - a pale gray dragon that has mask-like facial features and wavy hair with a colourful streak blushing. On the left of the image is the designer's logo and URL above and below them - Caius Nocturne, nocturne.works.
Another finished commission from over the holidays - Twitch emotes for @sacroix.bsky.social and @quietscrappy.bsky.social !

Another thing onto the pile of 'man I wish I was using a Mac right now'
(Reminder: I do not blanket hate machine learning, but I am not for the ongoing philosophy of making the task of generating shareholder value the user's problem instead of you know, making good and desirable products)
A screenshot from I Saw The TV Glow (2024), where Maddy (a person in a denim jacket, white shirt, leather pants and a scruffy mullet) talks to someone behind the camera in an empty nighttime supermarket, standing awkwardly with their arms and legs slightly spread out, saying 'Do you remember me?'

There was a writer in certain circles who I respected and his writings meant something to me. I even spoke to him on occasion. His website had existed since about 2000, the last time I saw it was in ~2016. Recently, I learned that his website stopped in 2018.
I wonder what happened. :(
