I'm a historical fantasy author. I set my stories in versions of the world that never quite existed (due to the existence of magic in my version) -
And I would never dream of relying on AI for any aspect of my research, partly because I'm a former academic historian & I know how inaccurate AI is.
Hello Evening Crowd - a trip to Paris to meet Fallen Angels and other supernatural entities for you today!
Book cover for the forthcoming book The Scarlet Ball, by Nghi Vo. An Asian woman in a red Gilded Age ballgown faces the viewer defiantly holding a mask made to resemble a white woman's face. There are dark smoky hands reaching for her out of the darkness, grabbing her arms and caressing her face.

On October 6, 2026, you're all going to meet Judith Ban, and I cannot wait.
A cute video by my friend Ariana, ft. a dramatic stuffy. Dragonfall & Emberclaw make up the complete Dragon Scales duology. A bit about this series:
ποΈ Epic romantic fantasy
π Dragons as gods
π A queer celebratory world
π΄ββ οΈ A heist
π Copious amounts of pining
My first book occasionally gets criticised because the bad guys are a secret cult of cartoonishly evil necromantic billionaires and I can only assume that these criticisms come from people who live a blessedly offline existence and have never once read a newspaper.

"But horror for me is having something you love being torn away from you.
Thatβs horror.
And that can be the seed for not only grief, but zealotry. "

No, Claude is not anxious.
Anxiety requires two components:
1. Awareness of the possibility of annihilation of self.
2. An autonomic nervous system.
Mimicry of the words of an anxious person is not being anxious.
A dog can be anxious. Your plagiarism machine cannot.
Recent midlist SFF books that deserve everything:
The Tales of the Plains trilogy by @davewragg.com
The Works of Vermin by @hironennes.bsky.social
Seven Recipes for Revolution by @ryanprose.bsky.social
A bit older but The Graven trilogy by @essahansen.bsky.social
I think it was even the first Angry Robot title I reviewed
Melissa is absolutely right. We might be traditionally published, and we might occasionally break out with a bestseller, but midlist authors are often neglected by publishers while the big titles suck up all the oxygen. There are some brave and exciting books out there that deserve a lot more hype!
