Central Park, home of the Wigan Rugby League Football Club.
Wigan, Lancashire.
My association goes back to β89 - first proper football memory and it stuck was all over the news. Did nowt until 94 and then wenger
Being a rugbyite and Gooner this will be a great weekend.
I remember going to Highbury with my sister in the Carling Cup semi - Wigan won. I was gutted. My only time inside Highbury too!
For any Wiganer youβre all good to read the latest Lathams Loft in the next @forty20magazine.bsky.social π

Wigan is Home
Also they had this reproduction of the WLBTU semi final between Wigan and Tyldesley from 1888!
Visited Tyldesley RU club tonight to see these special items belonging to John βBuffβ Berry
Lancashire, North of England, England and Westmorland caps
Look at that badge!
If this was Jim Slevin (who did captain west Lancs) Iβd remortgage my home to acquire him! π
Captain of the West Lancashire and Border Towns Union.
Got sent this image of a photo to try and identify him. 25% in my view could be Charlie Holt of Wigan (1885) or J. Warren of Warrington (1886) who captained versus Westmorland.
The provenance of the back story suggests it could be Warren
Nice to see Warrington Wolves celebrate their 150 year anniversary through heritage and history and not through commercial opportunities
Wigan, as we are not yet 150 years old, take note.
Redeem yourself for 2029!
For a moment I felt like Jim Slevin!
Probably the first Wiganer since Jim to hold this trophy aloft in the guise of the West Lancs Cup!
Oh to be in 1890!
