She said, "but it's in [educational journal]!" And I said, "yes, and it's making me question their entire publication"
She didn't appreciate that either
Once I actually called out an article's works cited to an administration. She really, really didn't like that. (In my defense there were only 4 citations, and one was from the 1940s and another from the 1920s. For "cutting edge" literacy practices
These people have never seen/heard the bucket boys in their entire lives
There is a whole book about the "gender affirming care for dweebs" thing- The 4-H Harvest: Sexuality and the State in Rural America. I haven't read the whole book, but the parts I did read were *fascinating*
One of the most depressing things about the war in Iran is how a bunch of grown ass men are acting like this is a fucking video game.
and that, to my mind, given the former cultural and even current material power of the mainline, seems *suspicious* to me β how does that come about??? I want to read a cultural history on the evangelicalization of the American mindβ¦

Prepare Ye the Way of the Lord is an easy one for the second Sunday of Advent

This made my blood run cold.
I fear this is just the beginning of states creating a legal "right" to harm trans people.
Make sure your trans friends know about this in Kansas. Pray for their safety, pray for those who will be fleeing & pray for this law to be somehow be struck down. βοΈ
This article was lovely and relatable; my compliments to Ms. Archie on her writing and solidarity with her story!
Loved this; read it about 2 weeks ago, finally getting around to saying something today. Better late than never? Please never stop your religion writing, it's great!
I was lining up with other clergy for an ordination last year, and my bishop asked where the crucifer and lucifer (light bearer) were! We had a good laugh
I take it to mean that humanity is traveling in a circle, without even a hint of an upward spiral
Uhhhhhhhhhh, is it uncharitable of me, or just realistic, that I assumed that bedroom would be used to r*pe deportees? I legit did not even consider consensual sex between staffers
βLook, half of my possessions, Lord, I will give to the poor, and if I have defrauded anyone of anything, I will pay back four times as much.β Luke 19:8
App-solutely not

Someone has sure already made this observation but the fact they can convert all those empty warehouses into prison camps means they could have converted them into housing, community centers, job training centers or, hell, libraries or schools all along. Itβs always a matter of will not resources.
Gonna be contrarian about lemon, it has never worked for me. I put a small bowl with a squirt of Dawn in the bottom on the credence table. Then I pour hot water from a coffee carafe stolen from the kitchen. Ashes come right off!
Yes, but unfortunately, not every bishop signed it
No matter how much I explain this to people, it's like I'm talking to myself, it's so frustrating
ICE βleftβ Chicago in November, but theyβve disappeared three people from my community in two days this week.
Donβt believe the hype about them, leaving Minnesota, either.
And 40-odd bishops of the ELCA!
It's corny as hell but the solution to fascism is loving thy neighbor
Multiple friends have caught COVID recently, including some of my more cautious pals. There are a lot of winter germs in crowded places right now, fam. Personally, I never feel that shopping or riding transit unmasked is worth potentially getting sick. You can always renew this practice.
