How many people need to die before these things get regulated? I don’t understand how they’re just getting away with this

You ever click on a big ol' corporation's ad on instagram so you can block the big ol' corporation and in so doing you find out that one of your friends is following them
Why are you following the giant computer company on instagram, friend. What are you gaining from this
I think about this Tony Benn speech much more than I used to
My doomer-worry about AI is not that the LLMs become omnipotent and take over the world but that the wealthy and powerful use it as a means to consolidate power and marginalize or lay off skilled workers and also everything about our technological and political and social life gets worse
I used to love computer it was my friend. Now I have hate in my heart
one thing's for sure: we all love to read "rising hostilities" and "easing tensions" every single day of our lives
When someone asks a question and two people answer the same thing at the same time so the asker quips "In stereo!"? That, to me, is perfection
We can't let these insane AI stories fade into the background. The world's biggest companies have bet it all on a technology that functions as an on-demand CSAM/revenge porn machine when it's not too busy convincing mentally ill people to commit self harm. We can't let up. This is inhuman.
This post is for people who put a hyphen in "thank-you":
What the hell are you doing
Headline: "Microsoft Scales Back AI Goals Because Almost Nobody Is Using Copilot" by Jan Martindale Dec. 10 2025
we can kill them all if we just work together and ✨believe💫
Genuinely quite upset that I now have to live the rest of my life asking if things are AI or not actually.
I refuse to be gaslit by year-end music lists into thinking I need to know what Geese is
Help!
How many ads for generative AI tools can I report as fraud before I'm kicked off of every platform
The Reverse Centaur’s Guide to Criticizing AI (permalink) Last night, I gave a speech for the University of Washington's "Neuroscience, AI and Society" lecture series, through the university's Computational Neuroscience Center. It was called "The Reverse Centaur’s Guide to Criticizing AI," and it's based on the manuscript for my next book, "The Reverse Centaur’s Guide to Life After AI," which will be out from Farrar, Straus and Giroux next June:
"AI is the asbestos in the walls of our technological society, stuffed there with wild abandon by a finance sector and tech monopolists run amok. We will be excavating it for a generation or more."
This piece on AI by Cory Doctorow is spectactular.

i wonder if maybe we should stop writing post-apocalyptic fiction just until we're sure that's not where rich people are getting their ideas
seriously and I say this with great conviction what the fuck is going on
It is really really sinking in for me the degree to which LLMs are the ultimate expression of right wing anti-intellectualism. Its proponents are literally mocking the idea that anyone would ever want to learn anything, know anything, develop any actual skill, or have a thought of their own.
i was going to write this article after watching that show but then realized i already wrote it www.mcsweeneys.net/articles/i-n...
my hope is that AI can empower the Dumbest, Least talented slobs i know to replace everything i ever loved with One Million Years of Content
Opened a marketing email with an intriguing subject today like some sort of empty-headed idiot baby who never looks at a calendar or thinks about what the significance of a date is
AI art sucks. Making it is bad. Please stop.
How to build a nested list
1) Start like this
A) Then do this
Bird: I live here now
2) Make sure to get the bird out
Bird: NO
Gonna maintain till my dying day that class matters, race matters, but underlying all the bullshit we're dealing with is misogyny. Patriarchy is what binds the regressive, authoritarian forces at work all around the world.
I miss when taking a long flight meant getting access to movies you couldn't otherwise watch at home yet and also when the world did not seem to be hunched over and bleeding to death at the edge of a river, its labored breath hanging in the cold air like fog
I will never forgive Current Events for making me learn who all these people are
Few things make me feel dumber thab tippy tapping at a little screen wjth my idiot thimbs. I am a wlrld class typist who knows where ALL the letters are without even looking at the keyboard, and I'm reduced to typing by SOGHT? Gove me back my slide-out keyboard
