i'm also very excited about the movie but I'm never buying a badge for sxsw so I won't see it until it's released I just hope to get to see him wearing a massive hat
Boots Riley is bringing his new movie I Love Boosters to SXSW and personally I am hoping that he has an even bigger hat than the one he wore at SXSW in 2023 to promote I'm A Virgo
i did not much care for that film and think it's a cop out when people say that's the point
every time i think about the movie martyrs i think the phrase "bonjour i am french nick fury, welcome to the getting the shit beat out of you initiative"
I watched it because there's a big historic theater in town that does a summer long screening series every year and I try to go to as many as I can and someone programmed it a couple years ago.
It's Sam Raimi.
I spent the better part of 3 years reading their posts as my day job, I can say very confidently that the main dynamic at play here is that they're idiots who can't understand subtext, let alone text much more than intentional scheming towards subversion.
a photo of a man from an old print commercial pointing his thumb at a man in the background and saying Goodbye the words "boil-away" are at the bottom
I wanted to see Send Help before it left theaters and Alamo was the closest place to watch it ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
someone on instagram just replied to this with the words "this is someone's fetish"
yeah man, that is a load bearing part of the premise of the piece
a crude drawing of a man sitting on the floor between two urinals, under a sign that says "use glenn the human toilet $5" the man is holding his mouth open. A caption at the bottom says "on paper I still love my job but day to day i feel like my heart isn't in it anymore and I'm doing it more for them than for me."

A cool thing about all of this is whatever money was saved by cutting servers and replacing them with a QR code could also probably be saved by cutting the salary of whichever corporate person came up with this, and the digital infrastructure for it, and probably better for the bottomline longterm.

Here's a picture I took 7 years ago in Times Square
if you ask me i think you picked the worst time of year to throw a party in austin, traffic's really bad that week, it'd be way easier for you to have a party in austin if it weren't that week
you were pokemon going to panopticon dystopia, whether you realized it or not
and then like 50 people replying to him asking "more choice in what? it's the same menu and now you have fewer options for how to order from it" and he didn't elaborate at all to any of them.
I still keep thinking about how, when it was first announced there was a post about it on Twitter from some big entertainment news account and the first reply was from a dude who had the word "an-cap" in his bio saying that it was great because it would give customers "more choice"
Galaxy is a mile further from my house than South Lamar, even if it's a safer route.
Like there are arthouse theaters that are close by also but they weren't showing Send Help today and I wanted to see Send Help.
It makes me super reluctant to go, but I've still gone twice this year so far because I live in central Austin, so it's the only place I can easily get to on bike for a lot of bigger releases.
the problem of not having cellphones which are technology and it's important for businesses to prove that they are forward thinking by having technology
Also the February screening was at Mueller, the March screening (today) was at South Lamar. So this is also across multiple locations where, at least seemingly, the mobile ordering thing hasn't gone into effect.
13 is middle school
This is going to fail and backfire, it is unavoidable.
Really sucks Republicans took IRS Free File away just so Turbo Tax can make money off something we shouldn’t have to do in the first place
it certainly was at one point, that was a big part of their reputation ostensibly.
Like if you decide 10 minutes into the movie "I want a soda" but you didn't scan the code before the trailers, you just are not going to be able to get it without shining a big bright light on the table. Really fucking stupid plan.
