One of the most beautiful bumblebees in the French Alps: Bombus Brodmannicus foraging on Cerinthe esp. in the morning and the evening. We planned two trips to see this beauty 😍. Several days later whole are was grazed by sheep, no flowers left sadly.

This is the ring wich elevetates the overflow level at one side of the drainage. Only with excess of water this one overflows. The rest flows to the container.
Bij de toelating van vlooien-teken middellen voor honden of katten speelt het milieu helemaal geen rol. De overheid beschouwt dat zeer onterecht als "kleine doses".

Fungicides used in agriculture cause resistence in Aspergillus fumigatus (fungus present in every compost heap) wich can infect immunocompromised people. In the NL 1000 infections of resistent Aspergillus each year, 200 fatalities. Don't contribute to this and eat organic!

It badly spreads from the spot over the pets skin.

I also saw once a Buff-tailed bumblebee queen in a Daffodil, same thing to my idea.

Very nice flowers to see, we have lots of them here in the NL.
They are however not used by insects.
Crocusses are also very nice and they are a valuable supply for early emerging bumblebee queens (only the white and purple ones).

I've a 650l container, three overflows in my border, and an emergency overflow in the sewage. Roof drainage has two exits. I elevated one of them with a PVC ring of 2,5cm so all the water is flowing to my container and with excessive rain the other is also used.
Quite a lot of plastic however.

Early spring again here in Delft, the NL with several bumblebee queens foraging on crocusses. Note: they only visit the white and purple crocusses, the yellow ones are not visited by bumblebees.
Where are the trees?
We have A LOT of this landscape and less than 4% native woodland. This should be a rich mosaic of habitats, moor, bog, woodland, montane scrub…We force it to remain in this artificial state. We don’t need to give every inch of our uplands over to sheep, grouse and deer stalking.
We are planning an insect friendly 80M2 in my street in Delft. After many delays due to digging pipes in the street and flu attacks I spaded and raked the soil and took some protection measures against too fast deliveries.
And ordered two sign boards.😘

This bee has the longest tongue of all scandinavian bees.
It is specialised on Monkshood flowers with deep corolla's.

One of my favourites, it took two vacations in the French alps to find these beauties. Bombus Brodmannicus, a specialized bumblebee dependend on Cerinthe. This was 2023 July.
Mind: running on a slope diving low to shoot the bees hanging under low flowers being very shy 😍 Very Mindful activity.

Heel leuk! In mijn prille jeugd kwam ik op een boerderij van een bijzondere boer in de Meern die ook een haas in huis had. Het dier sprong soms op de piano en liep dan over de toetsen.
Met Nico Groen als vertaler heeft deze haas nog meer geluk 😊
Delft, Netherlands,these machines are widely used to efficiently cut, chop and suck away the vegetation on road verges. Removing nutrients included in the vegetation is a goal but no insect survives this!
The words on the side miss any connection to reality: flourishing verges, bees, biodiversity.
