Somehow, The Sims 1 now has a Vulkan renderer... I spent the weekend taking a look at it: gist.github.com/riperiperi/7...

It's cool to have insight from someone in the industry - it took some digging to find out that I could check for XInput by looking for the "IG_" prefix in the device ID on my own :p

Checking if an XInput controller is plugged in with XInput itself is like, only 1 function call away...

Why do all this extra stuff with DirectInput when it's going to be harder and worse?

Turns out, it enumerates controllers using DirectInput, and is hardcoded to check for the Hardware ID of a 360 controller - if found, it enables XInput.

So as long as there is at least one 360 controller plugged in you can play with an Xbox One controller natively. 2/3

Digging into Dead Rising 2 for a reverse engineering project, something baffled me - the game only supports 360 controllers, yet it uses XInput, so all Xbox controllers should just work natively? 1/3
