I’m very, very disappointed to see @gamingalexandria.bsky.social , one of the foremost organizations for preserving game history, promoting the use of AI translation and using patreon funds to pay for AI licenses.

I have cancelled my patreon membership and will no longer promote the organization.

lrt: it would be nice if more people in this industry (and adjacent spaces) cared about ai ruining many localizers' ability to make a living and literally keep a roof over their head besides our own peers who are also facing those same very same existential pressures lol

my hot take of the day is that i don't think the tradeoff for a day 1 worldwide release is worth it if it means the localization has to take a quality hit to get there.

both because as a player, i want the text to read well, and on the loc side, putting less crunch/pressure is ALWAYS better
