Eric O'Neill is part of a £15.9m project to transform cancer research using live human tissue models.
"We will be able to test therapies on patients’ own tumours before they are prescribed a therapy. This will allow us to figure out what treatment is most likely to work for each patient"
Geoff Higgins leads on National Cancer Imaging Translational Accelerator (NCITA), a UK-wide medical imaging infrastructure which aims to accelerate the standardisation & translation of cancer imaging biomarkers for clinical use.

Kate Vallis focuses on therapeutic radionuclides in solid tumours.
Her team are developing strategies to predict tumour response to radionuclide therapy, to enable individualised dosing instead of using a one-size-fits-all approach.

Anna Schuh & her team are developing liquid biopsies to detect blood cancer early, stratify risk & monitor treatment response.
By analysing circulating tumour DNA, these tests can guide treatment decisions, helping clinicians know when to switch/stop therapy.

Every cancer is different. Every patient is unique.
On #WorldCancerDay2026, meet the researchers helping shape more individualised cancer care.
