Viens me voir dans ma van.
anyway time for me to re-up my view that when you make claims like that as a journalist you should be able to answer the simple question “who said this and why do they matter?”
Not crossing that border but you’re welcomed to travel north 🙃
Not just that, but their headlines are literally all clickbait, and they have more news about the US than Canada, and anything about the ice storm we just had is missing. It’s like Postmedia said « we suck the most! » and CBC said « hold my beer. »
For English unfortunately no. I have a few independent journalists I follow. For general news overview I stick mostly with @ledevoir.com and @info.radio-canada.ca - in French, but you can use a site translator, and that’ll probably be better than any natively English sources you’ll find.
Just looked at the CBC website for the first time in months and geez, it’s trash. How can it be so much worse than Radio-Canada when it’s staffed by basically the same 5 bilingual people in Montreal?
Ooh, a recent picture of myself that I didn’t dislike!
I recently realized how all those children’s books I read back in the day have influenced me. They instilled that unhealthy protestant work ethic into me. They made me believe that changing your opinion was somehow wrong. They made me feel like I owed the world something.
What power books have!
Yes they are!
« Raising awareness » - do you really believe that anyone who’s against climate action isn’t aware of the problem in some way? Really?!
And don’t try to excuse the out-of-touch voters. Disconnected and unaware people will never be reached by your carefully crafted messaging.
If you want to beat them, figure out how to organize a bloc of economic actors whose material interests are served by the transition. Organize a bloc with *more power* and then *defeat* them. That's how this works. You're not going to fucking seduce them with your clever verbiage!
Now whenever I hear my students say « ouasch! » I imagine I just told them I’m from Longueuil. (Mais j’habite « chalet » -land).
Little baby gay, fresh out of the Kaiser ER!
But because it’s covered and heated we can run it quite a few months more than other pools around here! Hopefully will start it up next month!
LA is really impressive with its subway program right now. Probably the only North American city actively planning so much new protected right-of-way mass transit.
Gun to the head of any of those Dubai expats, name 3 members of the UAE government!
The building isn’t heated. The pool heater can handle heating the water all winter, but once the air temperature gets too low frost would start coating the walls! We’ll try to get solar in the next couple years then we can start heating the building.
Can’t wait till we can start ours up!
I tried to move from San Francisco to Charlotte 21 years ago & this was how I felt about all the « action » there. When rich people try to build a big city from scratch they seem to think they can build culture just by simulating the conditions they see elsewhere. But that’s not how culture happens!
Guess who's back for another important lesson!

t'as qu'à augmenter les impôts pour payer plus des CPE et arrêter de congédier les éducatrices parce qu'elles portent le voile, et t'aurais pas ce problème, asshole !
Wait - are you vacationing with a postman?! Why aren’t you sending pictures of THEIR long walks?!
Merci. 🙏

The Queer bar I want to open.
I’ve liked the Beaverton since they launched.
But this video makes me sad.
Because a very funny satire publication seems to have a better idea of what’s happening than most of the world’s intelligence agencies.
A picture of PEW poll on global attitude survey, saying the % who rate the morality and ethics of people in their country as good vs bad, where the US has the worst rankings and Canada the best
Americans: we live in a fallen state—embroiled by sin, cheating, lying, and evil. You cannot trust anyone, not even those who claim to know you best
Canadians: I love my neighbors and my friends!
