"Art is radicalizing in the revelations it creates."
I curate the history series at public media's trade journal Current. We're looking for pieces on the history of NPR, PBS and its affiliates, with some space to imagine public media's future. We accept academic articles repurposed for wide readership. Plus, we pay. Please circulate!
The semester starts today and I'm trying to figure out how to make it clear there's only one thing I'm interested in talking about.
Getting the @newamerica.org fellowship genuinely changed my life. It made Tested possible, in a moment where I was ready to give up. If you've got a project that needs support (financial and intellectual) consider applying! Happy to answer any Q's people have:

Read: most anything available, especially as an audiobook, from my library.
Recommend / some favourites: @catswrites.bsky.social's Midcentury books, @kjcharleswriter.com's Will Darling series, @freyamarske.bsky.social's A Marvelous Light
I like the idea that it was a running joke β here's the league antagonist, what a circus, etc β and then Reid thought 'not for Scott, but what would it be like for a player to be with Rozanov?' and the rest is history.
Given a couple later interactions, I think Reid knew what was coming, but still.
Melanie Walsh @mellymeldubs.bsky.social and co-collaborators Sylvia Fernandez, Miriam Posner, Anna Preus, & Amardeep Singhβs project titled βResponsible Datasets in Contextβ received a Digital Project Award (Newcomer) from the American Studies Association. www.responsible-datasets-in-context.com
Sara Simon's (@sarambsimon.bsky.social) ieeexplore.ieee.org/document/108..., which I think is a version of her master's thesis.
βWhen I look at Mamdani, I didnβt see some radical departure from the past. I see him as the heir to an old and venerable Jewish tradition β that of Yiddish socialism β which helped build New York.β
I'll draw three figures on your heart.
On my recent reread of Game Changer, when Scott is coming out to people and they keep asking a version of "it's not Rozanov, is it?" made me wonder how much of the series Reid had planned out at that point.
So glad her husband got that job so at least one cartoonist in New York can have health insurance.
Oh! That makes a lot more sense.
Though Ilya flies into Ottawa when he's arriving for his time in cottage country (this is hardly the most important detail, I'm mostly enjoying the Ottawa dis)
When Shane's recovering at their house (I thought?) the title card is for Lanaudière, though I may have misunderstood.
Two notes:
β’ It is solo Ottawa in Episode 6, Ontarioless
⒠Do David and Yuna have a third house, in Lanaudière, to be closer to Shane? Will they be back in Ottawa in time for The Long Game season?
A title card from Heated Rivalry saying Ottawa, Ontario, because Jacob Tierney thinks that the capital needs more explanation, for a Canadian show on a Canadian network.
Only two places in Heated Rivalry get a province listed: Regina, Saskatchewan & Ottawa, Ontario.
Everywhere else is city only: Los Angeles, Toronto, Montréal, Nashville, Boston, Las Vegas, Moscow, Tampa Bay. Even Lanaudière.
God-tier shade from, I'm guessing, Jacob Tierney.
not quite what this thread is getting at but once at the LOC reading room, i saw a husband & wife duo straight out of central casting, by which i mean she was doing all the physical & intellectual labor, while he was simply looking at whatever individual documents she put in front of him
with abs like these, who needs editing?
... and after that, each day was slightly longer than the last.
Plus there's the scene of the Metros watching the Boston / SF game and talking about shaving off playoff beards after they're out of contention β the playoff beard is definitely a thing in this world (that we are cruelly denied)
I feel like this is an attack on the Beastie Boys' catalog if nothing else.
totally different if it's a main project not a side project y/n?
Rectangles!
Is there a way to block / remove the AI overview "Know before you go" section from google maps in iOs? I've looked around but haven't seen suggestions ...
