Partly, but it's spread everywhere the past decade or so. At least flag lapel pins haven't yet fully escaped containment.

I'll accept Harold Macmillan in front of a Welsh flag, but otherwise the correct backdrop is a manky curtain, some wood paneling or a bookshelf

I hated it when Cameron brought in the practice of speaking in front of a flag. It seemed so small-country insecure.

Less flippantly, it’s also interesting that the kind of people who seemingly easily said no to Epstein are also the kind of people who unhesitatingly chalk that win up to their wife’s or mother’s account

Meet three scientists who said no to Epstein The warning signs included a web search, a mother’s doubts, and inklings of a “sexist attitude”

Pretty clear theme here: spouses and parents who give good advice are about the most important thing you can ever have www.science.org/content/arti...

Super interesting, thanks! Not being Young I have no picture of this. It sounds like it's still very much a counterculture though? And to that extent overwhelmingly young and oppositional?

Curious - how much manga penetration is there in Hungary, would you say? Is weebery a thing? And is it an urban phenomenon or does it reach down into the small towns and villages?

Not much, independent polls all have a Tisza lead of various sizes, pro-govt polls tend to show a modest Fidesz lead. Not seen any polls since the Iran bombing though and anxiety tends to favour this particularly incumbent. Think there are also limits to polling in the villages too.

Publication of the day is a comic book from a mysterious independent civil society initiative depicting Peter Magyar, Orban's rival, as the puppet of Shell, Big Oil Rig, "Bank", VdL and someone called Manfred Weber. Yours for 2,500 ft in all MCC-owned bookshops.

If anyone is friends with any Georgian air traffic controllers, buy them a nice bottle of wine. As guardians of pretty much the only narrow gap still available between Europe and Asia that avoids both Iran, the Gulf, Ukraine and Russia, they are under some substantial pressure.

I've got this great idea for a futuristic hob with touch-sensitive controls that don't work when they get wet. Can you see any drawbacks? I certainly can't

(It also couldn’t identify trams, mislabeling them as lorries that for some strange reason never ended, but that sees a minor failing compared to literally flashing blinkenlights in the driver’s eye)

Was just in a Tesla taxi and was awestruck at the seemingly useless distraction of that animation showing its simulation of where all the cars and pedestrians are. Why does that need to be in front of the driver??

I quite often find myself wonder what the right thing to do in terms of journalistic ethics was for that team who had Gordon brown wired for sound when he made that “just some bigoted woman” comment about a person who was, indeed, a bigot. I totally get the impulses that drove them

Genuine racism is a problem in British politics, but a lot of where we are is because of something else: UK politicians, journalists, poli-sci types have no mental map for the fact that the "electoral discontent around immigration" has no real connection to the level of immigration. 1/4

The nicest thing I saw today? Definitely the late teen couple who stepped off the airport bus together and gave each other a passionate kiss of farewell before he boarded at the rear and she at the front 🥹

Interesting how few of the UK poli-sci community mention this.

What we have seen in Gorton and Denton is what we saw in Caerphilly in October.

A lot of people really don’t want the hateful politics of Reform and will work hard and smart to try and keep them out.

Labour must now listen to this and stop the grim attempts to mimic Farage.

2. Question Analysis:
The interviewer's initial questions about the election were effective in opening the
conversation and establishing a theme (peace).
The subsequent questions were open-ended and
personal (e.g., asking about her life, her work, her family), which allowed Anna to feel comfortable and share her story in detail. This listening-focused approach was highly effective, as it uncovered the rich, historical narrative about the Swabian community, which was far more compelling than a simple political opinion. The interviewer successfully built rapport, enabling a
deep and insightful exchange.

LLM tool transcribing some recordings of vox pop interviews I did. Inevitably, it also offers an "AI" generated summary in addition to the transcript I actually wanted. About 50% of which is it smarmily congratulating me on my interview technique.
