A profile shot of an Atlantic Puffin resting on gently rippling ocean waves, carrying a mouthful of tiny fish.
The ultimate "one trip for the groceries" flex! ποΈπ Atlantic Puffins use their tongues to pin fish to the spiny roofs of their mouths. This lets them keep hunting with an open beak without dropping a thing. I love this stubborn efficiency! π§β¨

Becoming Katharine Graham
A painfully shy woman's accidental rise to power and how it changed history.
Becoming Katharine Graham tells the story of a woman's accidental rise to power & how it changed history. Graham evolved into a legendary newspaper publisher. Nixon's nemesis during Watergate, she fought for truth, broke down barriers in a sexist world, & won a Pulitzer.

A photo of Avery Brooks as Captain Benjamin Sisko, sitting in an office chair, with a serious expression.
#MicroTreks
Captain Sisko sat at his desk and heaved a sigh as he scanned the PADD in his hand. It seemed to weigh much more than usual, the gravitas of the casualty list making his hand sag. The list was too long for him to read each service record, but he paused to read each name aloud.

Just finished Star Trek: Academy, S1.
And you know what? I think this is the strongest Season 1 of a Trek show I have ever seen. Absolutely superb.
And SAM is the first time I've seen someone *like me* on a TV show--someone larger than life and full of love and joy and autistic as fuck. πππ

A classic black-and-white portrait photograph of Susan B. Anthony, the legendary American suffragist, abolitionist, and women's rights pioneer, taken in her later years. She is seated in a formal pose against a plain dark background, wearing a high-necked, long-sleeved black dress with elaborate lace trim and floral-patterned lace collar and cuffs. Her white hair is neatly styled in a low bun with a small decorative comb or ribbon. She gazes to the left of the camera with a calm, resolute, and dignified expressionβher face conveying unwavering determination and quiet strength. The image captures her as a tireless advocate who co-founded the National Woman Suffrage Association, fought for decades to secure voting rights for women (culminating in the 19th Amendment after her death), and remains an enduring symbol of perseverance in the struggle for gender equality. The soft lighting and formal composition highlight her as an icon of the suffrage movement.
Susan B. Anthony dedicated her life to women's #suffrage & campaigned for the abolition of slavery, women's property rights & more: susanbanthonyhouse.org/her-story/bi...
Active until she died, #OTD in 1906. She never got to vote in her lifetime (well, legally that is).

The "classics" were never widely born in the long-established tradtions of literature. More often they were the new, the daring, the "slob".
So if you're a "I read the CLASSICS, you dipshit"-snob, you only show that you don't actually care about literature and just want to look intellectual

Jane Austen wrote romcom.
William Shakespeare wrote sexpollen furry romance.
Wuthering Heights was a scandal.
Dorian Grey, too.
In Germany Goethe's "Die Leiden des Jungen Werter" caused a fanish mass movement - unfortunately with tragic results, too.

The funny thing about "I read classic, not your pornbrained romance slob" snobs is that a lot of those classics actually had been the "pronbrained romance slob" of their time and often been looked down on by establishment back then.
