True! But how long can they hide xD
Yeees, just read today in some slides from a talk "The core question is not whether you are biased or not. If you have a brain, you have a bias.
The real question is: [...] What do you do once you notice them?"
So, now that they have been made aware, their (non-)reaction is telling...

I fear I am becoming more and more of a Godot fangirl. Considering to quickly start another project in UE to remind myself there are other engines with cool features too...
This game is about to release into Early Access TODAY and I have a spare giveaway key. I'll post it into the replies for anyone to grab once this post reaches 500 reposts
Evil horse?! You've got my attention :D
I hate spoilers! But also I'm incredibly curious - especially regarding colleagues' processes :D
My Miro looks similar regarding post-its btw hehe
This screenshot is betrayal! Zoom zoom zoom, no peeking allowed
both, but probably controls first! π€©
Chinese? :D
Ohhh I know the feeling! Though currently it doesn't feel much better, doing what I don't want to do for money and now having to have that as an identity for others... π
Usually I just still say I'm a game designer doing another job for moneyzzz lol
I never finished it, I just couldn't deal with the extreme damsel-ness of Rinoa, even as a teenager.
But now I've heard it being praised so many times, maybe I should try again π I mean, even still got the original CD somewhere. Still, original FFVII all the way for me <3 (and V + VI, I'm old...)
My body when I'm doing manual labor in the yard, plus training with the pony for 9 hours out in the cold, all on just a small bowl of muesli: "I'm fine, do I even need dinner?"
My body when I sit in front of the screen all day: "AAAAAH the last snack was 20 minutes ago, I'm dyingggggggg"
Omg finally something I worked on and I can show it!
I was only helping out for a month, but it was so much fun joining the fishies at @bongfishofficial.bsky.social with this delicious project. Get your friends together to brawl-cook! π
Aaaand I really hope that the community gets together to fill this up with different breeds etc, that would be sooo cool!
But even if not, maybe it's still helpful as it is, with only my cute Thokki as reference :D
It's not complete yet, of course, and I can mostly only share pics of my own pony. BUT if you have specific requests, feel free to reach out and maybe I can quickly record what you need and add it there.
(It's still a hobby project though, so don't expect perfect or instant delivery pls)
Dear artist friends or anyone who always wished for specific references of a horse - I've started a little side project:
The horse reference database: horserefdb.miraheze.org/wiki/Main_Page
I'm logging all kinds of horse behavior here that you may have trouble finding by a simple G search.
In solidarity with today's ICE OUT OF MINNESOTA blackout, MinnMax is donating $1 to the Immigrant Law Center of Minnesota for every share of this Bluesky post for the next hour.
No worries! Just in case, I wanted to clarify that I absolutely adored our studio and miss it dearly - and yeah, you're absolutely right it's terrible when the vision just doesn't come across to the "money people" π
It's so sad when projects depend on people who just don't get it - and then die :(
Important horse game service announcement xD
one is slop, one isn't, one isn't banned, one is >.<
no confusion there at all
Actually our studio (including colleagues and bosses) was totally cool, the only mistake was being bought and being reassured that we should take our time, only to run out of time lol :D
I wish I could show what we made though - *almost* made it to the finish line!
I can really recommend putting your heart and soul into a project for 5 years, only for it to be locked away, secret and inaccessible to everyone else, so nobody can ever know what you have done for this whole time.
Great feeling! π₯³π¬ (I'm not bitter, YOU're bitter!)
Iβm off skiing this week but when I come back yβall better have sent this to every gamedev you know whoβs working on a game with mounts π₯°
Just love seeing breakdowns like this - very cool! <3
Like - destruction (2D) - we don't need to actually cut the actual sprite image into pieces to deliver the fantasy.
Just make the sprite disappear and make cubes appear to fall down (ofc then add JUICE)
if anyone reads this, pls give me examples of your smartness - I want to know it all!
I just love game design... so much
It's also cool to realize how much trickery I already have in my toolbelt.
I don't need to actually create the thing the player thinks they see. I just make it look like it and feel damn smart about it π
(should remember this the next time I feel like a noob)
This was not what I expected when I clicked on the article. This beautiful writing hit home hard and, weirdly, made me so sad. π
A timeline visually representing the advice from my post, emphasising how dramatically and reliably having more time, with a testable build, converts to your game being better and your studio being safer.
I've been running an indie games studio for 15 years now, and it felt like a good time to boil down what I've learned into 4 pieces of advice:

I hope it's of use, not least because goddamn I forgot how long blog posts take to write.
