This has been one of those days I seriously consider just abandoning technology and go raise goats or something. Just a completely wasted day dealing with stupid bullshit.

a longtime industry vet, I make games and lead design teams, and am looking for my next opportunity. Check out my rarely updated blog at http://www.zenofdesign.com I'm a white cis straight male (he/him), an ally albeit an occasionally imperfect one.

Update: It's now been six hours since I told Easyhost my email is not being forwarded. The only reply gotten was when I poked for a followup and got a terse 'please be patient'. I have a windows installation that's stalled because I need to change the password and the 2-Factor emails can't get to me
Anyway, my advice to every candidate running as a Democrat is to use the term 'mass deportations' as frequently as possible. Show pictures of the signs from the RNC in ads. It's a pain point, make them feel it.
Just gonna refuse when my wife requests that I walk her through the darkened alley she has to go through because I might get mugged.
It's the same problem that the Dems who wanted to avoid talking about trans issues last year had: your opponents are going to make you, and if you don't have a good answer ready to go, you're going to look evasive and flat-footed trying to change the subject.
The problem the GOP is going to have is one that has bedevilled dems who wanted to talk policy in the past:
The topic of conversation is not one you get to pick. The media and your opponents are going to be talking about mass deportations, inflation, tariffs and probably war.
The level of stupid you have to be to think that people didn't notice they're paying two insurance premiums a month is pretty damn high.
Mood: Don't give me an excuse to start punching.
Nothing I like better than dealing with the fact that Easyhost simply decided to stop forwarding my domain's email - which breaks everything - when I need to wrap some shit up before leaving town for an important business trip.
Yeah, while I have no idea if Anthropic is making money, I've worked on enough subscription-based MMOs to know that basically a whole bunch of people who rarely use the service and maybe forgot they were subscribed likely pay for a hell of a lot of heavy users.
Here's a news story covering it.

You know that asshole you partied with in high school that always wanted a pick a fight at parties? How you feel about giving that guy a gun and having him stand on a border wall?
Most new recruits are fresh outta high school. Some of them are not the most well-adjusted people. And once shooting starts, you never know what random bad or evil decision some 18 year old makes that changes the course of human history.
The thing about war is that itβs horrible, and just awful things can happen, and you never know if orders came down from on high, if it was some demented Rambo wannabe living out his fantasies, or if it was just a massive and horrific accident.
Helpful hint: running a roundtable with a hangover fucking sucks.
Now then, if the GOVERNMENT engages in cancel culture, then I get angry. And guess what: the Republicans are a HUGE fan of that.
They fucked Canada. They fucked Mexico. They fucked the Ukrainians. They fucked most of Europe. They fucked our trading standards with all of Asia. They fucked NATO. They fucked the people who translated for our troops in Afghanistan.
NOBODY should trust this administration to do jack shit.
This would be a more compelling offer if this administration didn't literally betray every single foreign ally the US had in the world in the last 14 months, with the possible exception of Israel.
The 'free speech absolutists' in Elon's inner circle don't believe that. They believe that any awful thing they say should be left alone like an old landmine in town square. In fact, it's the debate and, yes, the condemnation, that makes the whole concept work.
Free speech is not just about saying things. It's about the fucking debate. It's about society having a back and forth on the issues of the day. And yes, that involves easily offended snowflakes who blow things out of proportion, as well as vile assholes being able to say vile asshole shit.
Hear me out: Cancel culture is a kind of free speech.
When you speak, people should have the ability to react and condemn that speech. People who think they should be able to say slurs and racist shit without response want free speech for themselves, but not anyone else. That's not it.
Every time you see someone use the term 'shitlib' in particularly, you can be guaranteed that their feed spends way more time attacking the allies they need to build a coalition and win something than they spend attacking the current president.
Modestly surprised they aren't faux-gold-flaked or literally clown shoes.
For fucks sake, Marco, go to the website and buy some identical shoes that fit.
Vitally important update.

Obama governed significantly to the left of Bill Clinton. In 2020, the entire field except for Joe Biden ran on a platform to the left of Obama, and when Biden won, he governed far to the left of what he ran as.
Anyone who says that is automatically in my head in the 'bucket of people who have big feels but no understanding about politics'.
1) If you don't want to wait in line, get your coffee at McDonalds or Dunkin Donuts, not the place whose entire reason for existence is fancy coffee.
2) Or use the god damn Starbucks app. (This is a GDC cheat code, by the way).
