I like to imagine a deal with the devil where my reward was a mediocre podcast about a movie nobody cared for, and my punishment was the knowledge that it ever existed.

Which might just be the case with every podcaster now that I think about it.

Every now and then, I see a Chicken Soup for the Soul joke, and I am burdened with the fact that in college, I did a podcast, “Chicken Little for the Soul”, where I reviewed Zach Braff’s hit 2005 animated film, Chicken Little, while reflecting on life, childhood memories, and religious trauma. 🤠

- revised and submitted 5 poems to my college journal
- had a revelation about my novel

I hope that all those concerned (and vocal!) community members turn up for our upcoming city council meeting on the cameras the city wants to put all over town that “don’t report to federal immigration enforcement” (but have absolutely been used for exactly that in nearby communities).

I had jury duty today (though I never even made it to Voir Dire). When asked, many of the jurors voiced their frustration with federal law/immigration enforcement, and the court overwhelmingly supported their concerns and assuaged them by elaborating that none of the parties were involved with ICE.

I first read The Hobbit on a camping trip, and whenever I read it now I can still smell the campfire and hear rain hitting canvas. When I reach the part in Mirkwood with the giant spiders, it always feels like I’m holding up a flashlight to read while my dad snores loudly in the background.
