So it turns out the disappearance of the mini map add-on I was using in Elder Scrolls has left me repeatedly looking at a corner of my screen that now adds no value. It’s like when I glance pointlessly at my wrist when I’m not wearing a watch.

Screenshot of text that reads: Britannica One Good Fact February 17th, 2026 One teaspoon of soil is likely to contain more microbes than there are people on Earth. The same amount of soil might also contain several miles of fungal material.
This kind of info fascinates me. Truly epic amounts of life all around me that I’m totally oblivious to. Nature is awesome.
A photo of the Aurora Australis lights - streaks of purple and green. There’s a silhouette of a tree to the right and the lights of a town along the bottom right edge of the image.
Enjoying the Aurora Australis from my front deck tonight.
The numbers I’m really interested in today are the voter turnout stats. The weather is really cold and windy, and I get the sense a lot of people didn’t want to go back to the polls so soon. So I won’t be surprised if a lot of people don’t bother. #TasPol #Tasmania
Ah tax time. The glorious time of year when you wake up to an email letting you know your myGov account has been locked because someone has been attempting to log in with the wrong password. Full marks to myGov on their email alert wording and the security actions recommended after unlocking it
A map showing the areas of Tasmania a weather alert applies to. It is zoomed in on the Hobart suburbs of Ridgeway and Mount Nelson.
If these two suburbs are genuinely at risk of flooding from a higher than usual tide I would hope it would warrant more than a text alert given both are over 340m above sea level.
Me: So the internet tells me you can fix this really minor thing I have by yourself and there’s no need for medical intervention.
My body: Sure I’ll get right on that after I deal with *gestures frantically* all this.

Me: Today I'm going to...
My body: Nope.
Me: But I have all these things scheduled...
My body: Still nope.

It appears I’m at the Endo Gremlin on a rampage part of my cycle. Zero stars, do not recommend.

A close up photograph of light blue and green beads sitting on a grey felt beading tray on a wooden table. The bead pattern is green, blue, green, small blue, blue, green, blue.
Planning and plotting my next project.

A square drawing split into seven sections, three rectangles and four squares, with black frames dividing them. Spanning the sections are a large circle and ten smaller circles of varying sizes and an oval. These are filled with a petal-like pattern in shades of pink and purple. Around them are smaller circles filled with shades of light blue. The background of the sections is metallic blue.
Drawing and colouring. Colouring and drawing.

My new hobby is making complaints about our mail being taken to the local post office instead of being delivered to our mailbox (which has a substantial secure parcel section). I need to draft a template I can copy and paste to save time.
A black and white close-up photo of a spider’s web encasing beads on a mobile. The web forms a cone shape around the beads, starting at the width of a diamond shaped mirror at the top and funnelling down around a round bead, a smaller round bead, a larger heart-shaped bead, a small round bead, and the top of a bead most of which is not visible in the image. There appears to be a dandelion clock or similar seed trapped in the web.
The spiders have been busy this year. Everything around the outside of the house seems to appeal to them, including my mirrored mobile.

A photograph of three rounds of wood in front of a stone wall, viewed from the front. The wood is a mix of different shades of brown, orange, and pink. You can see the whole face of the top one and the top edges of the faces of the bottom two. The many growth rings of the tree are clearly visible, spaced fairly evenly, suggesting steady growth year after year.
So many years of growth before it came crashing down across our garden.

A screenshot from a podcast player showing the logo of the After Dark podcast. Below that is the following text: “17 Mar 2024, Ep 50, 46 min left St Patrick: Pirates, Snakes and Goatees After Dark: Myths, Misdeeds and the Paranormal” Below that is a play button with the word “resume” under which it reads “subscriber edition”
Today’s listening in honour of St Patrick’s Day.
@pinksky.app this was a square image (1:1) posted via the Pinksky App. It looks right on Bluesky but seems to have been padded on Pinksky to make it landscape. Any idea why?
A black and white photo of 4 enamel pins on a floral patterned background. They’re spaced in sort of a zigzag pattern down the picture. The pin on the top left is a white oval with a floral border around the bottom half under text that reads “CAUTION FRAGILE”. The second pin down is on the right and is a bit bigger and rounder than the first one. It’s also a white oval with a floral border around the bottom half under text that reads “DONE IS BETTER THAN PERFECT”. The third pin down is on the left and is in the shape of a sword. It has a flower to the left of the hand guard and has a write ribbon wrapped around it. The text on the ribbon reads “FIGHTING INVISIBLE BATTLES”. The fourth, and final pin is on the bottom right and is in the shape of a rainbow.
Some days. In fact most, if not all, days…
I think all the text pins are all from Jubly Umph.

Black and white photo of the footpath in front of a row of shops. In the bottom right is a chalkboard that reads “Most people think that T-Rexes can’t clap because they have short arms, but really it’s because they are dead…”
I love this. #Hobart #Photograph
Me: I’ll put on the washing as a prompt to take a break from this task when the cycle finishes.
Washing machine beeps signalling it’s done.
Me: One second…
Four hours pass.
Me: Oops
Ah chronic pain, mildly annoying one day, a nausea-inducing hellscape the next.
I wouldn’t be unhappy if the Olympics ceased to be. But then I also wouldn’t mind seeing the ice hockey at the 2026 ones so I’m slightly conflicted.
I’ve added it to my wish list after reading more about it. Thanks for mentioning it!
By Ursula Le Guin? I haven’t read it but it sounds interesting.
I’m interested in hearing what you think of it when you get around to reading it. Though if your list of books to read is anything like mine I’m aware that might be some time from now.
I love this book for those reasons. Reading Ancillary Justice by Ann Leckie was a similar experience for me. It felt like it was rewiring my brain and showing me a completely different way that books could be written.
Ah the joy of being so exhausted by the process of changing the bed linens that you need a nap. I guess at least the sheets are all fresh and lovely. #ChronicIllness #EndoWarrior
A photo of pair of mary jane style shoes patterned like a red bandanna. It’s taken from above and cropped just before the heel so you see about three quarters of the shoes.
A photo of a cardboard shoe box designed to look like a carton of chocolate milk. It has a pale blue and cream diamond pattern and a brown label in the centre which reads “chocolalicas”. It also has a small label below that which reads “The Originals” and one at the top of the carton that reads “Hot Chocolate Design”.
New shoes! And they came in the cutest packaging.
My brain is never as pedantic as when a hockey commentator describes 0-0 as a “scoreless” game. Actually sir, I think you’ll find that while it may be a goalless game, there is most definitely a score.
Baking is hard when your sense of taste is malfunctioning. So my husband got to be my taste tester this morning.
I love this, and your other light angles work so much.
