I've always agreed with this
The entirely hands-off approach & lack of any moderation whatsoever (and very limited moderation tools for devs) does nothing but breed toxicity & bigotry

They don't act on anything unless it hits the mainstream press

It's a toxic hellscape over there, that's "normal"

I wow, I grew up watching this film. I'd never heard anyone else ever talk about it and felt like it was just some weird fever dream

But then I watched a lot of queer European arthouse films in the early 2000s, they left their mark

I utterly love that film though, I need to track it down 💜

One thing we absolutely MUST demand from the Green and Liberal Democrat parties is trans-led inquiries. No more cis people checking the work of cis people. Trans people need to be empowered to directly punish our oppressors.

Given that I learned how to solve the pancake puzzle from 1995's Discworld game from an issue of PCGamer back in the day this makes weird kind of sense to me

All these comments saying they aren't necessarily the intended demographic... As a counterpart, I definitely am. I'm a 30-something, disabled, nonbinary trans man who paused my transition twice for reasons like this. For fear of losing community, fear of being alone, being "unlovable". This hits really fucking hard. The number of things I've gone to that are for "women and nonbinary people" and thought about "what happens when I get to the point that I consistently pass as male? Do I no longer belong there? Will I have to once again justify my existence, my presence in this place I am meant to feel safe in?

I've been told, to my face, that I'm not a game developer, or that my 14+ years of writing and making narrative games means nothing because there's "no audience for the games about trans masculinity you want to focus on now."

Comments like these are what matter to me.

GDC organizers heard the gardens were used as a meet-up place for folks who couldn’t afford tickets. And instead of doing the sensible thing and lowering the price of tickets, they did what every heartless business does: “If you’re meeting near our event and not here to buy, get the fuck out”

I prefer a conservative who hates trans people and says they hate trans people to a liberal who hates trans people and says they support us. The latter does much more damage to conversations about trans rights.

I'm usually more the werewolf & giant monster type, but the monstrous genre as a whole is full of resonant emotions for us strange creatures 💜

In a little bit of media escapism I'm enjoying where the new series of Monarch is heading

I maintain that outside of Kong: Skull Island the Monarch series is the best thing to come out of the Monsterverse franchise

Big monsters, personal stories that feel real, & consistently enthralling pacing 🦖🔥

As a fellow creature who grew up surrounded by trauma, isolated from the world, and struggling with internal queer feelings all I can say is how right Riley is about finding comfort in the monstrous

We see the monster in ourselves & how others treat us, so we find a home among the monsters 💜🏳️‍🌈🦖
