This is great! β₯οΈ Thank you!
I know I have people in my corner.
I hope you can let someone know that you're in their corner.

Last year I was feeling pretty down at a conference I was speaking at, and several of my friends from that traveling circus noticed and asked me how I was doing. Which, even if it was a question that I could not give a proper answer to, was a question that helped me tremendously.

I have friends that will just randomly send me a message asking how I'm doing and letting me know that they are always available if I need them. It seems like nothing, but even that small gesture does a lot for me. Even if I don't need it right then, and I can give a "Thanks! All good!" back.

Regular check-ins, no matter how short, help people feel that they are seen and valued. Taking the time to reach out to a friend gives them a sense of belonging.

I think it is important to reach out to your friends every now and again. Loneliness and depression feed each other. If you're struggling, letting someone know you need help is far from easy. So reach out to someone you haven't talked to in a while.

Part of the point was to show people that you can't really tell who's struggling and who's not. All of us are what you'd consider relatively accomplished people, always friendly, sometimes funny and in general having a good time. Christian was the same. Our nickname for him was "happy-go-lucky".

A few weeks ago I had the privilege to participate in a panel on mental health at the Swetugg Conference in Stockholm organised by Stacy. None of us were health professionals, but all of us were people who knew this from the inside and we shared some of our stories.

The reasons have been many, but a common theme has been loneliness and a belief that no-one could help them, not even themselves. It is a feeling that I can relate to all too well. I was lucky. I managed to get help before that feeling grew too much and became overwhelming.

TW: Depression and suicide
Over the years, I've lost five people to suicide. Friends, training partners, people I loved. Today it is eight years to the day since I lost one of my very best friends, Christian. I miss him terribly.

"So you're saying you have all the basic features of a male, but they're rough, uncoordinated, and not guaranteed to work?"
When men refer to themselves as "alpha males", I hear that in the context of software, where alpha versions are unstable, missing important features, filled with flaws, and not fit for the public.
We keep giving AI the fun jobs (coding, writing, making art) while we are stuck with the shit jobs (laundry, code reviews, resolving merge conflicts) what a disaster
So many times I see unsorted lists that are a pain to navigate or best case just puzzling. Thank you, @hilton.org.uk, for this writeup!

ChatGPT advocates, please understand: many times when people ask you a question, it is because they are valuing your experience and perspective. Essentially, you are part of their community. When you answer with a ChatGPT screenshot, you are telling them that they are not a part of yours.
I don't think so. I think a leader can easily be someone that takes that direction, but has the passion and skill to directly gather and inspire others to go in the same direction. Dissatisfaction with others' direction isn't a requirement.
To feil blir en rett...?

Sure, and it's a decent response, but I'd argue that BlueSky makes sense. Especially within the tech sphere, which is a non-trivial part of Sessionize.
In our latest CfP, several speakers mentioned the lack of BlueSky and commented on that Facebook and X was a bit ...outdated.

Hey, @sessionize.com, any chance we can get BlueSky on this list?
