We ported pbrt-v4 to Julia and built it into a Makie backend. Any Makie plot can now be rendered with physically-based path tracing.
Runs on #AMD, #NVIDIA, and CPU via KernelAbstractions.jl, with #Metal coming soon.

I just released Raycore.jl - a high-performance ray tracing engine for Julia with CPU and GPU support!
It will power a new photorealistic rendering backend for Makie.jl, but we made it modular and flexible to support any other use case

We figured out flow matching over states that change dimension. With "Branching Flows", the model decides how big things must be! This works wherever flow matching works, with discrete, continuous, and manifold states. We think this will unlock some genuinely new capabilities.

My lab, at Karolinska, in Stockholm, is looking for a PhD student with a computational/quantitative background to work on probabilistic/generative models of proteins (structure and sequence). The research will involve methods development, and applications in vaccine design.

It also plays nice with docs.makie.org/dev/ - and most of the objects the package knows about can be plotted directly. This is nice. I love @makie.org , favorite plotting package ever, 12/10.
