I wonder why they head to docs at first sign. Are Canadians more self-sufficient? Or have better social support so less likely to seek help from docs?? I notice in K-Dramas they go to hospital for things we wouldn’t. No GPs I’m told.

When the two doctors talked about the health of their patient population, it occurred to me that car culture probably has a lot to do with it. Canada has a longer lifespan than the US. But it also sounds like walking and using public transit instead of cars means we're healthier at older ages, too.
I found it fascinating to learn how 🇺🇸 patients differ from 🇨🇦. My jaw dropped learning in NC, his patients were on 10 or more medications. Here, we don't want any. Yes. I get that. My parents and grandparents helped a Vietnamese family settle here. US propensity to invade and regime change is odd and so destructive. It doesn’t jibe with the kind of people I’ve met down there.
Not mine. Even new stuff that plugs in is inexplicably not. Having to reset after power outages and time changes is such a pain, I don’t bother anymore.
That probably describes me, too. On the one hand, my perception has changed over the decades; on the other, my perception of my American friends hasn’t.
I guess it depends on if it’s a misperception that Americans aren’t trustworthy manufactured by the gun and glorify-violence entertainment industry or if it’s a true perception?
