You may also be able to get a loan through FEMA (issued by the SBA) for some money to get stuff like clothing, a bed, etc. -- its low interest (less than 2%) over 30 years.
It is truly awful, but if it can help someone longterm, I want to do what I can to assist and provide support.

I know that having nothing and thinking you can buy a home -- if you can afford the mortgage, you stand a chance. For some of us like myself, it was our only chance at home ownership.

If anyone sees this, even weeks/couple months after and this is a federally-declared disaster area and you've lost your home:
I went through this a couple years ago when I was renting. You can qualify for special FHA loans to buy a home somewhere with no money down.
