Out in September.
Taking a break from graphic novels this time round with this beauty of a book by @footymac.bsky.social. Nearly half way through and it lives up to its billing. Incredibly well-researched and well-written history of the Italian game (up to 2007).
10/10 (so far). Would recommend.
Always great to come home to book post from @vocabularyninja.bsky.social and @bloomsburyed.bsky.social. This looks absolutely class and the layout and structure could easily be adapted for different model texts that you might be using. Well worth a look.
January reads.

Loved this sequel and really hoping thereβs more to come from Squire. Definitely a good choice for UKS2 and a must if you have the first.
Weirdness and creepy atmosphere is more than enough to bring me to the table.
I've heard it's seriously scary which I'm totally here for. It's on my watchlist. Just need to find time to watch it!
Oh, he read it on Boxing Day along with about five other graphic novels that he got for Christmas!
Pinched one of the boy's Christmas presents this evening. Zawa and the Belly of the Beast is ace. A story about the impact of humans on the earth at its essence. @thewoodenking.bsky.social has created some superb characters and artwork to tell a fantastic tale with a positive message.
We don't talk about those times...

I've seen some seriously bizarre opening hours for some libraries. They don't play by anyone's rules.
I live for the day our local library opens again. It was knocked down and rebuilt but it's still not open because the council is skint. π
And that's another one added to the list... π
This is Amulet, right? Still only read the first two books of this series. Aiming to have read it all by 2026!
Teachers - If you are looking for ideas to stimulate poetry writing in the classroom, or if you don't feel too confident teaching poetry, there are many tried and tested ideas on my blog plus lesson plans by guest poets to guide you through the process. brian-moses.blogspot.com
By all means, create a culture within schools but we also need to appreciate that all teachers are individuals, just like we understand that all pupils are too.
This is so important. I've switched jobs recently due to, amongst other things, what I felt was lack of autonomy within the classroom. Consistency is important but we need to be trusted to make the right decisions for our classes rather than just expected to follow the same path.
Hello - I wrote a new blog about the teaching of whole class reading, which I haven't in a while. It's over 9000 words so quite a read, but I hope the comprehensive nature of it comes across as helpful, rather than patronising. Anyway - hope it's useful!

It's brilliant. I didn't see it until Gosh did their best of. Definitely went under the radar.
Ink Girls looks very nice. I'll be adding that to my list. What's the X-Men manga like?

Beneath The Trees is excellent. It was the first book I read this year. The juxtaposition of the artwork and the storyline was brilliant. Looking forward to more Patrick Horvath in the future.
2024 was the first year I've ever tracked the books I've read. It's been really fun looking back at what I've read this year before looking ahead to the huge TBR pile I've already got for this year.
First ever trip to Hay-on-Wye today. Could have easily bankrupted ourselves. Serious restraint was shown. Especially pleased with the two Tomi Ungerers.
Little bit happy with the comic book haul I've received over the past week. Some amazing books. I'll be stealing some of my son's as well once I'm done with these!
We have 5 PAIRS of the THRILLING #ThievesGambit series by @KayvionLewis to #WIN!
