A Calligrapha beetle- named of course for the beautiful inscriptions on its elytra- sits on its dogwood host plant. Texas.

I guess it’s a little poetic that the tech industry invented a transformative new employment-destroying technology and the very first industry itβ€˜s going to destroy is tech

They're doing the death by a thousand cuts / guilt by association playbook, and if we spent a few minutes looking at the people running the playbook and who THEY support, we'd be telling them to fuck off.

Kinda in love with these tech logos redesigned with a 1980s look by Kostya Petrenko (@kxdgraphics on Instagram). He's got a bunch more, too:

BuzzFeed Nearing Bankruptcy After Disastrous Turn Toward AI Three years after its pivot to AI, the writing is on the wall for BuzzFeed. The company said there's "substantial doubt" it can keep going.

Self-own of the decade: BuzzFeed pivots toward AI slop, loses everything.

I would also like the Democrats to stop just ceding the Republican framing of everything that matters

we can't be the party of "nothing matters except tax cuts" when teachers have to buy school supplies with their own money and no one under 40 will ever be able to buy a house

we all want you to make corporations pay their fare share, but the reason for that is because TAXES ARE GOOD and helping people understand why they matter is part of living in a society!!! I give you twenty extra cents a year or whatever in exchange for which we all get to have parks and libraries

one of the earliest lessons in politics I learned as a kid from my parents was to always vote for a tax increase, because you're trading a dollar amount so small you probably won't notice in order to fund something important that benefits everybody. I wish that was how Democrats messaged this stuff!

Declaring that no quarter will be given unequivocally violates international humanitarian law. Indeed, ordering that no quarter will be given, threatening an adversary therewith or conducting hostilities on this basis is prohibited and constitutes a war crime.

Palantir CEO Makes Shocking Confession on Disrupting Democratic Power They’re saying the quiet part out loud now.

"Palantir CEO Alex Karp says his AI technology will lessen the power of β€œhighly educated, often female voters, who vote mostly Democrat” while increasing the power of working-class men."

Just saying it right out loud now.

Y'all do realise it's only called "Palantir" because "Literally The Eye Of Sauron" was too on the nose, right?

Like I heard Peter Thiel was originally gonna call it "The Witch King Of Angmar, Right Behind You, Forever," but then was like "nah people might get suspicious on that"

Long and the short of it is Peter Thiel is a nerd but also an authoritarian, and he thinks Sarumon and Sauron are cooler than the Fellowship.

As someone who went on the Internet for the first time in the early 90’s, I fucking loved the Internet. It has given so many things in life, and afforded me so many incredible experiences.

And to see it, and technology in general where they are today is kinda soul crushing.
