We held a hearing on the Department of Citywide Administrative Servicesโ decarbonization efforts. The City of New York is behind on meeting our ambitious carbon reduction goals for municipal government and we must do better.

We renamed Pacific St & Boerum Pl for Ralph Mercado! Aย Brooklyn born global force in Latin music. He was the man behind the music - managing legends like Celia Cruz & Tito Puente and bringing salsa to the world.
The current outdoor dining process has made way harder for small businesses.
New Yorkers want their local restaurants to be gathering spots to enjoy all year long. It's time to bring open dining back year-round.
New Yorkers want bring back year-round open dining! Our bill will:
๐ Allow year-round dining again
โ
Expand footprint for small restaurants
โ ๏ธ Help design safer streets
๐ฝ๏ธ Allow more businesses to participate
We introduced a bill to restore year-round open dining and make it easier for restaraunts.
Outdoor dining was a silver lining of the pandemic, and New Yorkers want it back. We can simplify the process for restaurants to secure permits and give us more places to dine together.
Here are 4 things we want to do right now:
1๏ธโฃPass my legislation to revoke 60,000 city-issued parking placards
2๏ธโฃImplement consistent, aggressive enforcement by NYPD & allow citizen enforcement
3๏ธโฃSafer street designs
4๏ธโฃEliminate on street parking spots reserved for government workers that arenโt needed
Our office released a new study highlighting rampant illegal parking across Downtown Brooklyn. Vehicles block sidewalks, crosswalks, bike lanes & loading zones - making it more dangerous for New Yorkers to get around the neighborhood.

Join us at the Greenpoint Library on Thursday October 16th from 10AM-1PM!ย
Discuss local issues with our Community Advocate Kelly and @sengonzaleznyโs team, get tenant support from @communitiesresistย and visit SBSโs Workforce1 van for job services.
We also celebrated the great Jane OโConnell from DEC, who has overseen some of the most complex remediation projects in Greenpoint, including NuHart. Her expertise, accountability, & the highest standards of remediation are unmatched.
I joined @NYSDEC & Madison Realty Capital for a ribbon cutting at Greenpoint Central โ housing on the former NuHart Plastic Manufacturing site. This site shows how remediation should be done: cleaning up toxic plumes to transform into homes for our community.
Join us at Montague Open Streets on Sunday Oct 19! Weโll be there all afternoon with a performance from Bindlestiff Family Circus at 1pm, free compost giveaway & blood drive.
Reserve compost: bit.ly/oct19compostย

We introduced legislation to ensure that when the City is installing 32-ft Link5G towers, they will be required to notify neighbors & solicit community input.ย
At the very minimum, neighbors deserve notice about whatโs being built right outside their homes.

Thank you to @EmilyAssembly @SenGonzalezNY and @NydiaVelazquez for cohosting this event and to our Immigration Chair Council Member @CMAlexaAviles for leading these efforts Citywide.
This weekend we canvassed small businesses in Williamsburg and Greenpoint to educate employers about what to do if ICE shows up. We will be hosting more outreach events to share actionable information about how to keep our community safe.
Our office had a great time at McGolrick Park this weekend at our Greenpoint Eco Day! We gave out 500 bike helmets with @NYC_DOT, 7,000 pounds of compost, and 150 leaf bags!
We distributed 400+ backpacks packed with school supplies to students at District 33's highest need schools.ย
Huge thanks to all our neighbors who donated and The Service Collective for helping ensure every student is set up for success this year!

๐ณ๐ฑIn partnership with @NYCParks, we planted Brooklynโs first mini forest in Williamsburg!ย
This once-rundown space at N. 4th St & N. 4th Pl is now a thriving pocket forest that will boost biodiversity, improve air quality, prevent flooding & beautify the neighborhood.
Stand Against ICE Day of Action on Saturday, September 27 at 11AM to support immigrant New Yorkers. We'll be canvassing nearby businesses to inform employers and employees of their rights & prepare them to stay safe in the event of an ICE raid. RSVP: docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1F...

I loved joining @NY4ChildCareโs rally (with my little guy!) to demand more affordable childcare for working families!ย
The City Council took a first step on 2-Care this year with a small pilot and now we need to expand it to make sure all working families have access to universal child care!
Weโve heard from many neighbors about recent car break-ins in Boerum Hill. Our office has been working with 84th Precinct. Please donโt leave valuables in your car, and reach us with questions/concerns or more information at district33@council.nyc.gov.
New Yorkers deserve a Mayor who is focused on what we needโon faster, more frequent buses, on keeping our young people out of jail, on ending NYPD corruption and misconduct, and on ensuring our quality of life. This MMR proves once again that Eric Adams was never up to the task.
New Yorkers areย seeing drastically less accountability for increasing police officer misconduct. There were over 1,000 substantiated complaints last yearโalmost triple from before Adams took office. And NYPD overturned 22% more recommendations for discipline last year.
The MMR also shows that Eric Adams continues to fall woefully short of his pledge to create 150 miles of bus lanes in four years. DOT installed just 5 miles this year (and a total of only 42 since Adams came into office)โout of 3,200 total bus route miles in our City.
Our quality of life is sufferingโour parks are getting dirtier. Eric Adams cut 1,400 seasonal parks positions, the people responsible for picking up trash and maintaining our green spaces. This has led to a decline in the overall condition and cleanliness of our parks.
Instead of investing in our youth, Eric Adams is sending more kids to jail. Youth admissions to detention are up another 25% and have almost doubled since Adams took office. There was an 80% increase in prosecutions against youth and 10-point drop in kids referred to diversion.
The 2025 Mayorโs Management Report is clear: New Yorkers are paying the price for Eric Adamsโ relentless austerity budgets. Spending cuts have deep, lasting consequencesโand theyโre exacerbated by the Mayorโs severe mismanagement of our City government.
