I went back and re-did the edit for this Crow as I felt they were worthy of a proper 'hero edit'. I am much happier with the end result - I think this may be my favourite bird of the year, possibly favourite photo!

A juvenile sparrow hawk through a bird feeder table
Rear shot of a juvenile sparrow hawk on a red fence
I was taking some shots of sparrows on our bird feeder this morning when suddenly all hell broke loose. This juvenile Sparrowhawk descended like the wrath of god and I had the good fortune to have the camera ready to catch these few frames before they flew off again!

Macro shot of a common wasp
Glastonbury tor in the distance
Took a trip to Ham Wall reserve today. The sun finally came out so got a few nice shots.

A long exposure of a fire pit showing the flame and logs from a high angle
The campsite we're staying at has fire pits at each pitch, so I bought some logs to burn things and play with shutter speed! Learnt a lot about exposure and the use of filters for the longer shutter speeds - fire is bright!

A family portrait of two adult Mute Swans and a cygnet
A cygnet in flight
Some kind of gull in flight
Cormorants perched in the trees
Two much more experienced friends accompanied me to a local nature reserve to photograph some of the birds. It was very chilled, enjoyable couple of hours and I got a few ones I liked enough to share.

A lone flower growing from pavement cracks
A pugnacious Squirrel
A grey squirrel on a tree branch
Went for a walk and snapped some shots of the local tree rats. Plus a pretty flower growing out of pavement cracks - fits the 'beauty amongst the mundane' vibe I want to capture.

Could we have a standing petition that just says:
"NO to anything new, despite not having any detail.
IT IS WOKE/IT WILL HERALD FASCISM/PALANTIR WILL STEAL MY BRAINWAVES/IT IS MARXISM/IT IS AI-ADJASCENT [delete as appropriate].
But mainly because WE ARE BRITISH and didn't think of it first."
Backlight! This is a millennium beacon in a park hereabouts. Really enjoying the autumn sun 😃 no dogs this time

A pink rose at f8
Got my first fast(ish) prime today - Canon EF-S 24mm STM 2.8. So of course I had to take a photo of the one of the dogs to try it out, plus a bonus flower shot trying out different f-stops.

Took the camera out on this evenings dog walk. Got some of the last flowers of the season, a happy dog with his stick and a moody crop of an overflying Apache.

A male Mallard enjoying a bath
Obligatory beginner Duck photographs. Enjoyed taking these down at the village pond near were we were visiting this weekend. The ducks were clearly used to people and quite happy to pose.

A stand of trees framed by a tunnel of foliage
I liked the previous shot so much I went back in my lunch break and retook it with my DSLR. I really like how the colours came out on this one!

A stand of trees framed by foliage
Taken on this mornings dog walk in some local woods. Was taken by the natural framing of the tunnel of leaves leading to the cluster of trunks in the distance. Shot with my iPhone as that is what I had on me.

A bear in the wild, smiling and posing coyly
I guess this has probably already gone viral somewhere but I am simply dying at this picture of a bear that looks like it hired a photographer to do a glamour shoot
A golden retriever close up headshot
A mixed breed dog on a sunny day
These are my dogs, Theo (the golden) and Beleia (the other one). They are, unsurprisingly, two of my favourite subjects to photograph so you'll probably want to get used to their faces.

I've pretty much been in listen only mode on the socials, but as part of a drive to do more photography I've set myself the challenge of taking and sharing three photos a Week. Hence my sudden appearance in your feeds.
Sorry in advance!

She likes to hide behind the Fuchsia bush. Not 100% happy with these, but it's a work in progress :)

if I wanted a dictator I would have stuck my penis in a potato and called it a day
I remember seeing @cstross.bsky.social over on Mastodon saying that he’d changed fully from Word to Libreoffice for reviewing / editing his books with his publisher without any issues recently.
"While tantalizingly intelligible, there is sadly no way to know what 'en penischock' translates to. I do not speak Swedish. No one does. Similarly, there is no way to know what the story is referring to further down where it says that 'Robinsons penis hängd ute.'"

In the UK this is called a ‘chicken run’ I believe.
