NJ's new restrictions on e-bikes are raising serious concerns for riders across the state. We joined @bikejc.org on @biketalk.bsky.social to unpack what the law does, the situation that led us here, and where we go next.
Don't miss the end where we share some hopeful news on #Hoboken Vision Zero!
We love to see transit access being prioritized!
#Hoboken has insightful data from our Curb Study report, showing a less pronounced but similar condition on our streets. Although 80% of households donβt drive to work, almost all of our public street space is used for storing cars that are used 1-2x per week.
Location Update! Meet at Newark Ave and 6th St to shovel snow together. We do this because we love you <3
In light of increased ICE activity in our community, we are respectfully asking #Hoboken City Council to suspend enforcement of the βTests and Vestsβ delivery worker registration program.

Picture of an unobstructed commercial loading zone with overlaying text stating: Ending CLEAR makes Washington Street less safe for cyclists, less productive for businesses and slower for bus riders. Continuing CLEAR keeps Washington Street more predictable for cyclists, more efficient for businesses and faster for bus riders.
The data show clear signs of a street that is functioning at a higher capacity, serving more people, and reducing dangerous activity along a busy pedestrian corridor.
Discontinuing enforcement of our laws without a comparable replacement would be a disservice to our community.
Photo of an unobstructed bike lane with overlaying text: CLEAR by the numbers: - Bus, bike lane, and double-parking violations have decreased by more than 68 percent - Freight vehicle use of loading zones had increased 98 percent - Turnover in loading zones is also up 9 percent, allowing approximately 2,300 more vehicles per week to access loading zones during the same time period. - Parking activity and turnover have increased during the pilot period compared to this time last year. - From the beginning of October through Nov. 15, the number of paid parking transactions increased by 4 percent and average turnover increased by 7 percent
Prior to implementation, the city conducted monitoring at intersections along Washington and found constant blocking of bike lanes, clogged bus stops, and overstayed loading zones.
The success of CLEAR has been immediate and impactful.
Picture of an unobstructed bus stop with overlaying text saying: Keep Washington Street CLEAR. Hoboken's camera-assisted parking enforcement pilot has demonstrated success at keeping Washington Street safe and productive. The pilot program is scheduled to end on Dec 31st, but the program should continue until Hoboken has a suitable replacement for enforcing our laws.
Preliminary data has proven CLEAR to be effective at keeping Washington Street safe and productive. The pilot should be extended until #Hoboken has a suitable replacement for enforcing parking violations.
