I first picked it up when I was in 7th grade, and closeted, sheltered, Catholic me was simply not ready for all of that.

Here’s the thing for me. There is a bunch of media that I enjoy that is problematic in one way or another. That’s my choice. But what I don’t do is deny that it is problematic. I have to deal with that and I have to be OK with other people not being OK with it. I don’t get defensive about it.
