Gotta get that sequel done for the half dozen people asking for it ๐

She was a teenager in the show so this makes me want to know what a 50yo Sailor Moon is up to.
Like, does she still bust heads? Did she get pants? Is she just entirely "sick of this shit" as middle aged women tend to be?
8 panel comic P1: We are looking down at a tiny lil jumping spider, as it is dwarfed by the bare foot of a human standing out of frame P2: a low shot of the foot's owner, as he looks down with a look that says 'I know what must be done' P3: in silhouette --eyes blank-- the man rears hiis right hand back P4: a closeup of his hand as it careens downward P5: Back to the lil spider, looking up in fear as the shadow of the approaching hand looms ominously. P6: a side view of the hand as it screeches to a halt over the cowering spider P7: the hand remains in place, as the spider looks up in confusion P8: a closeup of the spider, as the hand gently pets them on the head.
The Great Burnout was a culmination of a lot of things, but yeah, that was the final straw.
I'm not exactly "productive" but I am writing again at least. Shopping things around again.
I do want my book to show up on said ex agent's desk for petty reasons tho ๐
I might procrastinate later. I don't wanna do it now
iโm telling my grandkids this was warhammer 40,000
I got so burned out with the last agent hunt, I didn't write for two years.
If I do it again, I wouldn't even do that.
The one that strung me along for two years and then quit agenting kept giving me "timelines" too.
Hard agree. Respect is a two way street. I had a couple that didn't even fill out the form right. It says "[Dear author]" in brackets and everything. Dodged a bullet with those.
I get how running a mag can easily get overwhelming. It's a lot of work, of which I was only a part of. And almost always 100% volunteer run. Often the writer is the only one paid.
So it's not a knock on anyone that things move slowly. It happens.
But don't make it take longer than it needs to.
When I read slush, it was a point of pride I never let things sit in my to do pile for more than a week. It was rare I went over 4 days.
There's a reason why Clarkesworld gets so much of the best stories out there. They respond fastest so are most people's first sub. The speed shows respect.
Anything that even hints at a no reply is a place that doesn't respect writers and I won't sub to. Same with agents.
I read slush and it takes 45 seconds to send a kind form email. There is zero excuse. We all may hate forms, but we understand the necessity.
This truly is a Leroy Jenkins War.
I unironically love the bat in the top right pic
Well yeah. The important stuff
Tired: gas prices as an economic indicator.
Wired: Lego prices as an economic indicator.
I stay positive by reminding myself of the stat that 95% of all books listed in Ingram sell 10 or less per year so i'm actually doing good. ๐
We didn't ruin the economy.
We didn't get you laid off.
We didn't replace you with AI.
We didn't raise gas prices.
We didn't foreclose your home.
We didn't cause your divorce.
We didn't get your kid snatched by ICE.
We aren't in the Epstein files.
Leave us the fuck alone.
This tracks.
Yesterday I filmed several baby birds walking across a street directly at my camera and asked Bluesky to suggest music
Several dozen folks did
Some even dubbed music over the original clip.
I haven't been able to get this out of my head.
So I give you
A Bluesky exclusive:
Reservoir Ducks

bluesky being immediately negatively polarized into going with skeets because we were asked not to was the first sign that we were going to make it as a posting site
every true posting forum declares forever war against the mods
Welp, I did it
Everybody follow @oocmags.bsky.social!!!!
In Rhode Island that's only 2x market value now. I wish I coulda gotten them to hang up with that one ๐
I'm a total nobody but people at work for some reason think i'm making bank by having a book out.
Then I tell them my Feb earnings amounted to $7. (Thanks Kobo!)
Seriously a level 10 victory there
For the love of all that is holy, don't mess with them by sending a reply with an obnoxiously high number in hopes they'll leave you alone.
They won't bite on 3x value, but they *will* use it as an excuse to call you 4-6x a week for years. YEARS.
Today it was warm, so the kids were running around at recess in tee-shirts, while there was still three inches of standing snow on the ground.
Fucking peak New England.
You know *exactly* what you get with these books. No ambiguity. That's genius.
Bringing back the old school hits
There is no meatspace community. As much as I wish I could some days, I can't.
