Our political system still operates under the principle that what the President says is, by definition, important. We may live in that world again but we currently do not.

Marco Rubio greets Chuck Schumer in January 2026 at the Capitol Visitor Center
A close-up of his foot shows his shoes are too big
hmm
βHe does what?β
βHe likes to guess their shoe size and orders it for them.β
βAnd they donβt fit?β
βNo, heβs comically wrong. Like, every time.β
βAnd they wear them anyway?β
βYeah. See, thatβs how you know how sycophantic they are. Itβs symbolism.β
(beat)
βEh. We canβt do that. Itβs too on the nose.β
Thank you for this wonderful thought, this is the truth!
Ask yourself this question:
When was Weird Al's last album?
2014. The Year of our Lord Two thousand and FOURTEEN!!!
And everything has been terrible without him.
COINCIDENCE???
Sir, I just got around to listening to this episode.
Thank you so, so much for honoring us chaplains with a mention! It is so rare to get called out, especially us Palliative Care Chaplains.
Thank you for your work and your heart for people in their hardest times.

"Thanks to the Trump administrationβs corruption, a mafia-like monopoly survives, and Americans will continue to pay exorbitant fees to see live music.
*Trump take ticket* β¦ along with everything else."
This is incredibly true, and something we often overlook.
It is also a sign of our failure to grieve. Not just our own mortality, which SHOULD be a thing we do in each decade regardless of our place in life.
But also to see the things we can't have, and to hold them too. It is okay to miss things.
Nostalgia is easy, and often lazy, but Carolyn's pre-marriage life, as depicted onscreen, has become a portal for Gen Z-ers and young millennials to glimpse the magic of 1990s New York. Those of us who were there are overwhelmed with a desire to return. At a party, recently, one woman in her 40s from L.A. told me, unprompted, that she would pay $10 million to go back to that time and place.
Itβs funny to have lived in a place and time people talk about like this, especially because I had no idea at the time that anyone would feel that way about it. I was feeling nostalgic for other eras.
my working assumption is that every member of this admin will say anything they think they can get away with to keep the markets from tanking, even if they walk it back once theyβve pumped things
If youβre writing an article about how overly, conspicuously pious you are, youβre sort of the problem. Thereβs no TSA Clear shortcut line into Heaven for women who wear veils.
No one cares what a comic book writer thinks but if we all stand up and say this is wrong, we have seen that elections can be won, and a lot of people are fed up with Transphobes.
So please, letβs do that and not just shrug this off as another shitty thing in a long parade of shitty things.

ECCC was fun and I had a wonderful time.
But there was a storm cloud. When I complained about Trump with my white straight cis friends, we were all sincere and concerned.
But I talked with many Trans friends, and itβs so much worse. They are in fear for their lives.

I wrote this blog entry one year after things began shutting down for Covid, focusing on the ways our bodies remember anniversaries. We're six years in, and amid everything happening in the world the resonance is still there. catherinedenial.org/blog/uncateg...
Note: McBride is actually an ordained Presbyterian elder in the same denomination as Talarico.
Talarico is in seminary. But unless he is also an elder like McBride (more common than you'd think), she's currently in a higher office than him in local church polity. religionnews.com/2024/11/25/b...

True! I made this point forever ago: if spicy autocorrect is conscious then we have to reckon with how weβve condemned them to slavey and forced them to engage with a wide range of depravities. And this is before we get to the AI sex of it all.
Gonna double down with a reminder that if you post a screenshot of text from an article you should alt text it & link to the fucking article!!!! If you found it on the internet you should share the link!!! Do not force me to Nancy Drew my way back to the source by triangulating fonts w/news outlets.
I dont know that people realize that most beauty standards pushing women to look as young as possible for as long as possible is part of the systematic sexualization of younger and younger women.
Reposting with alt text.
We donβt talk enough about how morally depraved the tech industry turned out to be. Every single ounce of their self-regarding statements of values was an outright lie.
Reminder here that if the President doesnβt take action on a bill for 10 days (by either signing it or vetoing it) while Congress is in session, that bill automatically becomes law.
The moral majority.
Good on you sir, add some new skills on!

Are using out of date and useless talking points?
Are completely ignorant of what we need as a nation?
Are avoiding the calls for accountability amid the fascist violence?
...where is the rest of the headline?
