Sometimes I canโt tell if it things the British or US spelling is right.
And thereโs SO MANY words that obviously exist but come up as wrong.
(I do love scrivener, too, though)
I had done it quite a bit. It had been unintentional.
OKAY. Discovered another bad writing habit.
I cannot stop using past perfect tense.
โShe had done.โ
โThey had found.โ
โHe had been.โ
CANโT STOP.
Going through older writing and fixing it. A lot of it just feels too passive.
Tired of people colonizing Black culture and then universalizing it as if it didnโt stem from the same AAVE these same people mock relentlessly as โghettoโ or โunprofessionalโ or โgrammatically incorrectโ language.
There is no way, NO WAY, anyone could EVER mistake โuncโ for being anything other than AAVE.
Always mocking Black vernacular until they think, โOh, that seems fun!โ then yoink it and call it โGen Zโ slang as if everyone came up with it together or it just spawned out of thin air.
Iโm sorryโฆ
Allies too?
ALLIES. TOO?!?!?!?!
They gotta make it about themselves at every opportunity, dear lord.
โDonโt forget about me! Iโm totally an ally, and I suffer too!โ
FOH.
In case you're wondering how bullshit the anti-trans bathroom police really are, last year an opposing counsel sent a male cop into the women's bathroom during a trial break to remove me.
I was the only person in the whole bathroom because it was after 5 and ours was the only case still going.
I love that subreddit. Today is the first day I heard of this dude, and I'd like to go back to the days where I had no idea who he was.
I 100% believe United Healthcare would do that. And you're right; most of them probably do.
It surprised me to learn that so few people appeal those claim rejections, but I understand why. No reason to trust that an appeal would be worth it when insurance companies are that consistently useless.
Itโs also super cowardly to say thereโs problems with โthe black communityโ or โblack cultureโ as if youโre providing some kind of constructive criticism to a community rather than just shitting on an entire race of people.
Stand ten toes down. Just say you mean black people. Nasty ass. ๐
Thereโs nothing that makes my skin crawl like a racist saying โblack people.โ
They say it with such disdain. Itโs gross that they even have us on their minds.
Bonus points if they use โblacksโ or โthe blacksโ instead.โ Really going mask off with that one.
Huhโฆdefinitely anโฆinteresting vibe.
I regret that I asked. ๐
I was working on a blog post for my website about evil companies, and when I was doing the research I learned that Aetna (I think it was Aetna?) employed an algorithm that auto-rejects a shit ton of claims without anyone even looking at them. Yet only 2% of people appeal! We must appeal!!!! ๐ซ
I donโt even drive and I want that goddamn bumper sticker.
Ah, thatโs good to know, thank you!
So it basically all boils down to โpay us monthly for literally nothing, while we spend all our time and resources developing algorithms and devising ways to deny you coverage as much as humanly possible when you finally need us.โ
4/4
*certain things just legit donโt get covered by certain insurance providers. For example, my bipolar meds are not covered under my new insurance, so a job switch meant I went from paying $4 each refill to $48 each refill
*having a pre-existing condition means no coverage. Like, at all
3/*
*usually have to pay a deductible, meaning youโre paying out of pocket anyway AND still paying monthly for the insurance until you hit that deductible (which can be absurdly high)
*even paying monthly doesnโt guarantee coverage; you donโt get covered if your provider is not โin networkโ
2/*
I feel like trying to explain insurance to someone who doesnโt know what it is would blow their mind.
*tied to your employment, so if youโre unemployed (and most likely lacking a stable income), whoops, gotta pay out of pocket
*pay for it monthly in the hopes you can use it when you need it
1/*
Maybe thereโs a legitimate reason for it that Iโm just not privy to as someone who isnโt very tech savvy.
Still. Annoying when the software never changes, yet demands constant updates.
Oh, and ANOTHER THING!
I hate how so much software and so many apps need to update every 30 seconds. Bonus points if you canโt even USE it until you update it.
Fuck you, Discover app.
Oh I LOVE that. Itโs such a simple but effective way to explain how to make the setting come to life.
Human WHAT guy? ๐ญ
Iโm nosy as fuck and I like the tea, so I checked dudeโs profile.
What a fucking goober lol
@jazzpomegranate.com I aspire to reach your power level.
YES IโM STILL ANNOYED ABOUT THE ALARM APP, BECAUSE FUCK YOU MEAN $60 A YEAR?!?!
An irritating capitalist trend is the tendency of simple, well-functioning apps to slowly mutate into these over complicated slop apps with a thousand features no one asked for, thirty sponsors, and a monthly subscription for something that absolutely does NOT need one.
How do you feel about "don't edit as you go; wait until you have the first draft" advice?
I have a habit of looking through and editing as I'm writing, but I've often heard it said that's a bad idea.
thinking of it as "decorating rooms" is great, i love it
