Mamdani Chooses His Words Carefully After Alleged Terror Attack

Is the premise of this story that the mayor should make lighthearted video content about an ongoing criminal investigation www.nytimes.com/2026/03/09/n...

Well, this was the idea behind the CBI's Resilience Taxonomy. And you have pioneers like StanChart issuing green bonds with resilience components to them. At the end of the day, private entities have to bite the bullet and make deals they believe in -- which should encourage copycats!

Great Q from HSBC rep - how can you get private (not just public) finance signals to crowd in adaptation funding. Aviva’s Blamey: “who’s going to pay?” Points to “water sector”. 🤔 then mentions green bonds and carbon funds w positive returns.

London Fire Brigade has no statutory responsibility to respond to flooding! says @metecoban.bsky.social of @london.gov.uk , in response to Q. There are 60,000 basements in London. Each future flood event expected to kill 40 people. #CHClimateEnergy #adaptation

The US under Trump is a climate predator (that’s why Canada, etc) - @berggruen.org’s fierce Olivia Lazard at #CHClimateEnergy US joining Russia in that league, while China prepares for future volatility.

Absolutely spot on. Chills. So few people get it.

Back this year at @chathamhouse.org chairing a session at 1515 on investing in grid resilience w great panel inc @rusi.bsky.social’s Dan Marks, @neso-energy.bsky.social’s Deborah Peterson, and from BlackRock, Schneider Electric, & Winterflood. If only there was a security threat to grid in the news!

At @chathamhouse.org #CHClimateEnergy @elpinchbeck.bsky.social just trailed that the @thecccuk.bsky.social is poised to drop a major adaptation report in a few weeks - “headed to printers”. Reminder that UK govt has failed to make real progress on any adaptation & resilience front.

I’m sure media and markets are right. It’s not like the Trump family have any incentive…oh

I’m persuaded by Gammell’s analysis of GCC pressure to “finish it” despite not knowing what that means, bc they fear a wounded but still potent Iran. There’s no clear off-ramp, and Iran gets a vote about whether Hormuz opens.

Trump Family Inc. is so deeply exposed to GCC interests I can’t see that not winning the day.

So, the prevailing view in markets seems to be 1) Trump won't allow this to go on, and Iran will get on board with that 2) SPRs will take care of any shortfalls or gaps

Interesting. Not mentioned in the story are the privacy and rights concerns that age-gating would require. Presumably anyone who wants to be on social media would have to provide verification, which would be another opportunity for the govt to hand even more public data to Oracle or Palantir.

GPS jamming: The invisible battle in the Middle East GPS jamming has made navigation hazardous in the Gulf, spurring efforts to develop alternatives.

NEW: Since war broke out in the Middle East, extreme levels of GPS jamming appear to be occurring in and around Iran, especially in the Strait of Hormuz and nearby.

TPUSA is teaming up with Google and NextEra in both municipal and statewide races in Arizona, in part to control the future of a gigantic, publicly owned water and power utility, the Salt River Project.

Note the coalition here. Masks are coming off at the utility and energy intersection.

NYTimes frames Talarico's rhetoric as a "declaration of war" against conservative Christianity here, but if that's the case, he arguably declared it years ago.

This is a bit unusual in politics: his rhetoric on this hasn't changed much since I spoke to him in 2023: religionnews.com/2023/05/10/s...
