π€ KAYA HITS THE HIGH NOTES
π @kayathomas.is is a Dartmouth/MIT grad with 10+ years in mobile dev (her own apps, Slack, Calm). After her daughterβs NICU stay shifted her feeding plans, she built Milk Diary, a privacy-first infant feeding app.
@kayathomas.is is back on stage! I've had the privilege of getting to know Kaya over the course of the last few years, last year in particular, and I can't wait for you to learn the incredible things she has to teach!
I was working on a little tool for @plinky.app, and realized I could turn it into something useful for other people.

Even though @kayathomas.is is an expert in notifications she used AlarmKit in her latest app Milk Dairy. It's been 5 years since she talked about Notifications on the show and it's interesting here why she's using AlarmKit instead.

After half a decade, @kayathomas.is came back to tell me about her new motherhood-inspired app Milk Diary. She talks about using new APIs like Foundation Models, SpeechAnalyzer, and AlarmKit to handle the complex stuff other feeding apps miss.

Ooo yum!! Did you use a recipe?
when I learned what vibe coding was my first thought was βthat sounds like a nightmare in productionβ like how do you maintain the code, fix bugs, iterate on features, improve performance/scalabilityβ¦ if itβs all based on vibes?! π I really hope folks are just using it for fun prototyping
Excited to be writing again, I'm going to share all about my second-time founder journey on my new website. First post is about my motivations for building new app after becoming a mom. π€±π½

Right! Now that Iβm just out of the fog of my first year I want to get back to more hobbies too. Picking up coding again will be a big one for me (since I donβt code in my day job anymore) but thatβs probably not a good rec for you if youβre trying to stay away from work-related things
The only hobby Iβve been able to pick up again so far postpartum is reading, my LOβs sleep is still unpredictable so getting back to other hobbies that require more sustained time blocks has been hard for me
