Lovely aurora last night.

Not the best of photos but one of seventeen Corncrake seen or heard around North Uist yesterday.

Fantastic view of the partial solar eclipse!

Touring South Uist with @martgilli.bsky.social produced some nice birding. A drake Ring-necked Duck on West Loch Ollay; as well as this ringed Whooper Swan that flew in (ZBA?). Lots of swans on the move at the moment. Also Avocet and Lesser Scaup at Loch Bee and Green-winged Teal at Howmore River.

Common frogs seem to be all over the place on North Uist at the moment. Lots of adults and spawn in the ditches. This one was on the doorstep this morning.

Greeted by a beautiful sunrise this morning after nearly a month away over Xmas and New Year.

Golden Eagles enjoying a calm day after all the recent stormy weather.

The standing stone Clach Mhor a’ Che on the shore of Claddach Kyles in today’s dusting of snow, with the hills of South Uist in the distance.

Not sure if this primrose is flowering several months early or late. Wasn’t expecting to see this on my walk today.

I was greeted by this grim sight when I arrived at Loch Paible today. This lost/discarded fishing net had five dead baby seals entangled in it. It’s sad that this has had such tragic consequences.
