side note, some things that people in North America never talk about when making fun of how British people don't drive 4 hours a day like they do, a) bragging your country won't invest in public transit isn't a flex, b) driving in the UK is so much harder...I'm exhausted after 2 hours UK

Yeah, it's weird. I've lived in Canada and the UK. I will say the UK (like people on most islands) has an altered sense of how big things get on a continent, but it's more like how I still think in km even though the UK uses miles on roads. It's not some fundamental inability to comprehend lol

The common thread between my love of Final Destination and my love of Dead Like Me is a conviction that looking at things and thinking about how they could kill people is a "creative, entertaining skill" and not "weirding everyone out at the party."

I can't see Trump shooting himself in a bunker. I could see more of an Idi Amid move - defects to Russia leaving his country absolutely decimated then can't understand why people hate him.

Definately! they did a good job with giving her a lot of very unlikeable traits but also making you really feel for her. A lot of the characters are very flawed people but then they throw in aspects of the life they left behind to make you feel for why they have these problems in the afterlife

maybe I just cry a lot lol. That church scene though is one of the most unique and impactful moments I've ever seen on a show (at least for young me) ...and they do such a good job making Daisy selfish and vapid and fake and also making the hints into what's underneath absolutely devastating.

The death of the little girl in the first episode, the garage sale, Ronnie's death, Roxy's death overlapping with Daisy's, the gay couple Mason reaps, Rube seeing his daughter, Daisy in the room while the woman is being killed by her abuser, the church scene in "The Deep End"

The Xenomorph, hands down. My mileage with the Alien movies is better than most. I tend to like the ones that others don't and like less the ones that others enjoy, but the design and world-building around them is glorious.

I think the Scorpion Mother in DEEP DOWN is my version.

I will say I love a character like Steve Harrington from Stranger Things. A redemption arc being a “pretty damn good babysitter,” protecting kids they’d just befriended, with no relation or obligation. Some of how I’ve written Isaac, my ace exorcist babysitter, is exactly this.

When I think of a horror monster in action, I think of zombies. I think of something like Dawn of the Dead (2004) or Train to Busan. Probably not my favorite, but it is what I think of.

I love vampires. Have ever since I was a kid and nobody knows what that *ah ha* moment was, least of all me.

It's not in the blood, that's for sure.

Characters with vampiric natures, rather than the typical aesthetic (which I love) are in my work.

I wrote about the problematic history of the Oscars recognizing the work of Black directors.

I’m really proud of this one, so please spread it far and wide. It’s an important convo that’s been sadly absent from the Oscars discourse this year.

I know these don't do much, but if they can help people connect and organize, help people find support before this type of info gets censored, or help lessen someone's mental load looking up all this themselves, then hopefully it's at least something.

This is messed up. I'm so sorry for LGBT+ people living in the USA. Feels like we're just following the SS playbook, not even making our own dystopias. As a non-American, all I can do is try to give resource hubs.
