it’s so grey and gloomy outside from the dead grass and remains of winter, so my partner and I have been trying to make bright and colorful meals :)

found a bakery close enough for me to walk to on good days. I’m not a snob about much (I hope) but from my years working as a baker, I’m particular about good bread, especially sourdough. I’ve also been craving vollkornbrot which I used to make at my old bakery, so delighted to find it here.

why is there a gate to our kitchen? well there’s no door and our cat has caught one too many mice for us to feel at ease with her hanging out by the edge of the fridge unsupervised. this house is over a hundred years old and the years have made a lacework of openings for mice in the basement.

my partner and I just had a sing-off, if you can call us standing on either sides of our kitchen gate simultaneously playing chappell roan on headphones (him) while singing the opening to the prince of egypt as loud as possible (me) a sing-off.

And they're done! I'm so happy with how this turned out. I'm starting to feel a little more confident in being able to produce finished illustrations in traditional media, not just studies. 😊This is watercolor + gouache., with a little bit of color pencil and pastel for final touches.
