Went for a walk today and somehow prevented a minor car crash.
Okay, it was a slo-motion rolling vehicle, parked without a handbrake - a perfect scenario for a sharp-eyed middle-aged woman to shine! I felt so alive! 🤣
One of my core influences! Had forgotten many of these quotes. So good.
Thanks for the info!
Highly recommend!
A library! And public spaces.
Btw What ever happened to the library that was supposed to be built around Parnell Square?
I once broke up with a guy by accusing him of being a Potemkin village.
In Aldi this morning, the machines on either side of me: 😱
JFC.
🤣
My brother, aged about 11, ended up being an extra in Educating Rita when they filmed the wedding scene at a church at the end of our road (in Stoneybatter).
Kind of poetic symmetry to have a funeral on a birthday. I like it. It’s my dad’s 2 year anniversary tomorrow. He never got to see me published but when I got an agent he said “I think you might be onto something there”. He loved books but was fiercely opposed to fiction! 😂 RIP.
Me too, rhymes with jetski!
Now. Husband has somehow engineered to have his birthday on IWD and to be “working” on Mothers Day, also a day I’ll have to brave Patrick’s Day city centre entertainment for the young wan.
You just need to fat-dog it.
(Community joke)
Do you live in Koblenz, Germany? Did you see the fireball? Maybe you happen to live in the house that got damaged by the meteorite fragment! If so, let me know here and get in touch via email for a story I’m reporting on: robingeorgeandrews.uk@gmail.com
Hurray! I’ve been dying to read that Donut Squad! (Only half-kidding.)
The amount of drivers using their phones is out of control! I see it every single day.
YOU'RE ALL INVITED!
On March 15th, come help me celebrate with
@theandrewkclark.bsky.social the publication of my debut novel, IN THE DESERT from @cowboyjamboree.bsky.social
Links to follow!
Oh it’s gone desperate lately. There’s loads of book talk on there which is why I’m there. But the algorithm prioritises based on engagement, so all the engagement-bait hot takes clog up my feed! And they make it hard to only see people you follow - it defaults to what they think you want to see. 😱
Bluesky users! You have no idea how far Ai has taken over Threads. It’s FULL of 9-part “takes”, often ones railing against Ai, that have themselves been Ai-generated. Threads is now completely unusable unless you know the person posting.
I haven’t seen this here yet but I limit what I see.
Don’t feel guilty about me time or time for being creative.
Thank you, good to know!
Reading aloud is transformative, you’re right!
She was but unfortunately the experience was ruined by a group of extremely drunk young women in the row behind us, who kept bellowing at each other about wine and also spilling said wine on us numerous times! 🥲
“Allen is flawless, hair Golightly-ed up into a glossy Tiffany’s tower” is a helluva line. 👏
I wrote about Lily Allen’s show in Glasgow and how her shoes made me feel things.
Wow, fantastic writing here! Such interesting points. Btw I was at Raye on Wednesday and she performed the entire show with no shoes, and boy did she own that stage!
Caveat that I too am old and was never able to wear heels (trainer generation!) so I may be anti-heel biased also.
And libraries are terrible places, giving out books for free!
Ah god! “Geribatric!” This is so lovely how they care of him.
Great advice here! I read it out loud late in editing, although this is making me think I could/should do that much earlier in the edit process. If your work is funny (or intended to be), reading it aloud is a real test of whether it truly is or not! Much of comedy is in the rhythm.
You must be able to record the whole thing in one go? Or do you do it chapter by chapter?
