Even white Dems make this mistake constantly:

When they see 90%+ of Black voters voting for a candidate, they cannot accept that this means that the candidate is an overwhelmingly better choice than the others.

Instead, they believe that "Black people vote for Black people! Racial solidarity!🤡"

Republican megadonors are also giving significant financial support for Duggan, a former Democrat who has positioned himself further to the right on the political spectrum during his gubernatorial run.

There is a constant fantasy of adding white working class voters to the Democratic coalition without any offsetting consequences. It's a byproduct of thinking of Black voters as fixed objects and not humans with agency.

And no one ever learns.

And why are white voters the only ones who can take a pass on candidates?

This is exactly what you'd expect. Relatively disadvantaged students reaching for AI as you'd reach for a life preserver, being taught by teachers who are relatively unprepared for it. Students fall even further behind their relatively advantaged peers as a result. It's infuriating.

The first thing I read and talk to my graduate students about is generous reading as a foundational practice for our class. We're going to assume that I chose each thing on our reading list because we can get something out of it, and we're going to read for that first. Then, we can critique.

Claude cannot actually feel, it can't think, it doesn't have opinions, it isn't self aware, it doesn't have context outside the immediate window you are using it with. By asking for its comment on war crimes you are legitimizing the idea that it can be used autonomously or for war at all. Stop it.

Read an article of a white woman wrongly arrested based on this. She recorded her conversation with the sheriff who freely, joyfully admitted that he didn’t care that she had proof she wasn’t the one Flock recorded. His glee triggered my PTSD. Cops are having a blast with this.

It's fascinating how there are apparently some PhDs who are like "wow, I could've just skipped the whole learning portion of my PhD, the entire point of the process!"
