Why would I care about the literal price tag of war? What is $11 billion dollars to the United States? Who knows? Was that money ever going to be used to uplift people?
Decoding the incredible violence we're responsible for and recoding it as money is paving over the deaths those dollars paid for.
Palantir CEO Alex Karp: "What makes America special right now is our lethal capacities. Our ability to fight war."
Even though Russia is giving Iran intel to identify and target our troops, our "President" has relieved sanctions on Putin's oil so he can become rich and powerful again, so he can thus fight Ukraine with both hands.
One has to wonder why such a thing would happen.
ββ¦real failure is that the richest & most powerful nation in world β nation that has led the world since WW II & established the postwar international order emphasizing multilateralism, democracy, human rights, & rule of law β is now being led by a rogue president who rejects all these values.β

It's a workers' party now! Just what struggling Americans want to hear when they're paying Trump, Vance, and Graham's exorbitant prices at the pumps: they're doing it for wealthy oil producers in the U.S.
Trump, incoherent in most things, has shown a flair for picking precisely the worst person possible for job after job: Burgum, in this case...but Hegseth, Noem, Bondi, Patel, RFK, Jr., McMahon, Bessent, Zeldin, Duffy, Miller, Homan...not just bad people, the least fit for the jobs they were given.
After a series of fatal strikes involving civilians in Iraq and Afghanistan, Congress directed the Pentagon to reduce civilian casualties as part of a 2019 law. During the Biden administration, the Defense Department created the Civilian Harm Mitigation and Response initiative. The civilian mitigation teams β cut by 90% by Hegseth β work with military commanders on target planning, and making sure that targets are actually military sites. The teams help come up with "no strike" lists, including religious and cultural sites and schools
I knew that the Department of War shot a missile into a school & killed 175 civilians, mostly children.
This is learned today:
Secretary of War Hegseth had cut the teams assigned to prevent such tragedies by 90%.

Donald Trump at an election campaign stop in Pennsylvania in August 2024:
βEnergy costs, all of it, air conditioning, heating, all of it, including gasoline, will drop by more than 50% within the first 12 monthsβ

Months after posting financial disclosures online, the Trump admin does not appear to have sent the financial information for some top White House officials to the Office of Government Ethics for a second and often more serious review β including Trump border czar Tom Homan.
"If it is true that the Israelis sold America a bill of goods and deluded American war planners into believing that killing the ayatollah would lead to regime collapse, then I donβt even know what to say."
How does this even make sense? Speaker of the House Mike Johnson just tried to explain why the United States supposedly is not at war with Iran and what came out was one of the most baffling political word salads you will ever hear. His explanation? βIran has attacked three of our U.S. embassies
Guards have taken away crayons, colored pencils and paper during recent room searches at Dilley, according to detainees and others.
After one inspection, the children just βcried and cried and cried,β a mother said. The facility denies the claims.
β οΈ JUST IN: Staff at the nationβs largest #ICE detention facility have placed bets on which detainee will be the next to die by suicide, according to new reporting from the Associated Press based on 911 calls and detainee accounts.
After Day 1 of this debacle, all the MAGA accounts were talking about Trump liberating the Iranian people, installing a new pro-US leader, liberating women from oppression, seizing all their uranium. Not many of those posts 11 days later.
Just stumbling around trying to figure out how the world works.
Government by obfuscatory word salad extends to wars as much as everything else undertaken by the current US administration, writes Andrew Adonis
The pig at the trough.
It's not "aimless" for Netanyahu. He LOVES slaughtering civilians, especially if they're Muslim! Schools, hospitals, clinics, refugee camps, you name it, he will kill people in it!
He is guilty of so many War Crimes, it will take Donald a couple of YEARS to catch up.
But, DT has made a good start:
Radio, radio. Elvis Costello
As a country we have made a lot of mistakes in foreign wars over the last 2+ centuries. But Iβm not sure we have ever looked as feckless, foolish, incompetent and ridiculous at the leadership level than right now.
Wait, so the plan now is to imprison homeless veterans?!!!!?
"V.A. Begins Drive to Put Some Homeless Veterans Into Guardianship. The Trump administration will expand the power of government attorneys to initiate court proceedings for veterans 'unable to make their own health care decisions.'β
Citizens United effectively ended our, and by our, I mean non-millionaires and billionaires representation. When it was ruled that money =speech, those with all the money have all the speech, and weβre left screaming into the void. Only in sheer numbers will we ever create needed change.
