Lots more of these here!
'Evil witch poisons a good man' trope puts in an appearance.
And yes it is in the newspaper that described the rapist Donald Trump as a "feminist champion" and a "feminist hero".
Please tell me how on earth this doesn’t breach standards?! @stopfundinghate.bsky.social can we list this in calls to boycott advertisers? It’s absolutely shocking.
Thank you! I got it done today so that I could just touch it up tomorrow.

Happy Friday! Off to Ireland for a wedding. Sláinte!
Nothing life threatening, either a horrific migraine or an issue with my pituitary gland. Time will tell!

Hahaha yep! I’m actually flying home tomorrow for a wedding so the lie down is temporary 🤣
Title slide showing “why is there a Northern Ireland and a Republic of Ireland?”
To say it has been a mad week would be putting it mildly, I’ve had a hospital admission, lumbar puncture, CT scan but finished it off with talking about Irish History for the wonderful HA North East Teacher Network! Thank you to everyone who attended and now if you don’t mind I’m going to lie down.
Labour MP Charlotte Nichols reveals she was raped as an MP as she opposes the governments jury trial reforms
Every Labour MP should listen to her incredibly powerful and brave statement in parliament today
A brilliant session tonight on “Teaching Irish history in English schools” by @msquinnhistory.bsky.social. Jam packed with strategies and knowledge to make this possible. Thanks to the @histassoc.bsky.social NE network for putting it on.
Please read this and share with anyone peddling nonsense.
A compromise we can all get behind surely
Long shot, but I’m going to ask anyway: has anyone got a book of sources concerning the correspondence around MQS’s execution? There’s a photo of a draft letter to Parliament in John Guy’s Elizabeth: the Forgotten Years and it’s distracting me that I can’t fully contextualise it! #HistoryTeacher
Teaching: so all encompassing and busy that when you’re off sick you actually do life admin that otherwise you can’t do. I’ve been sorting out my phone contract for the last from my bed.

What Indigenous history does not need: more white men who aren’t experts.
Late to the party on watching Civilisations: Rise and Fall (Aztecs) and why oh why is someone who isn’t an expert in this area getting so much bloody airtime. Unless I’ve missed something, he has no credentials in this field at least in comparison to the other wonderful experts. What an insult.
Time is running out to get your free tickets to this webinar organised by the HA North East Teacher Branch. I will be sharing my experiences and ideas about teaching Irish history in English schools. Open to everyone! Why is there a Northern Ireland www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/why-is-the...
Ah very nice! Glad you enjoyed Belfast.
Is that Fibber McGees that you’re in?
A cut-out of the main part of Fabio Cipolla's painting The Proposal in which a young nobleman is proposing to a young lady; both are dressed opulently, and their white wigs and clothes suggest regency era to me or a bit earlier. They are in an opulent parlour with gilded details on and around the doors, paintings on the walls like you see in old mansions, and a fancy gold screen; it's all very Bridgerton. On top of the painting I put a comic speech bubble. The man is saying to the woman "will you do me the honour of becoming my wijf" where "wijf" is purposefully spelled in the Dutch way. This is funny for Dutch speakers, because "wijf" means something like "hag".
In English, the word “wife” means “woman you are married to”. In Dutch, the word “wijf” (more or less the same pronunciation, despite the weird spelling) means something like “hag”, “broad” or an even less pleasant word for a woman that I am not going to type here.
Let me tell you how come.

Wait… do Reform think free schools are literally free? As in, no-cost?
Fabulous! Thank you! I was very impressed at it actually as I hadn’t thought about it myself.
@carolinepennock.bsky.social Hi Caroline, one my students had an interesting question this week regarding Mexica religious belief. Did they have any specific beliefs around a solar eclipse given that it could look like the sun wasn’t powerful? Sorry if it’s a very in depth question!
